Am I the only one who loved this movie??
What can I say..it was great! I loved it! It was funny, sweet and romantic..all great quailities! I think all the actors played their characters extremly well! Especially Billy Crystal and Catherine Zeta-Jones! They were amazing! This was a great movie! I remember seeing it when I was like around 10 and I didn't exactly get all the hidden jokes..but I recently bought it (I am now 14) and I laughed myself silly! (The deleted sceens are rather entertaining as well!) So..I would definetly encourage people to see this movie(If they haven't already!) I loved it and could watch it over and over again!

Man, this movie was in the $5.50 bin at Walmart. What a bargain!! I love this movie!

I loved this movie too. It seems critics thought it was "a dud" but I think they're full of sh*t.

Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Billy Crystal, and John Cusack are all great in this movie. Zeta-Jones' character is a little bitchy but that doesn't mean she wasn't funny and good in the role. (She was) Crystal was cool too and funny as well and I liked Julia Roberts, both skinny and fat. The fatsuit kinda reminded me of Monica on "Friends." God, I love when Monica's in a fatsuit...

This movie was very funny as well. I laughed a lot and I really do enjoy this movie. Seth Green is kinda just...there but whatever, and Hank Azaria plays his role well even though the character, Hector, is an ass.

But this movie is great and funny. I too loved it, no matter what the retarded critics say! They can go sit behind their butter-showered popcorn and watch "The Passion of the Christ" or "The Pianist" -- whatever current sad drama floats their boat. (Not that I am not a drama fan or anything, I am)

P.S. Lady-Deathstrike is a cool s/n. I love X-men, especially the 2nd. Much better than the (still good) first!

Well even someone much older appreciates this film. I think this film is a hell of a lot better then critics or even people from the film industry would have you believe. Hats off to Billy Crystal for a great script! The issue is that this film pokes fun at every type of Hollywood character. But the fun part is that it all rings true. A few faces of Catherine Zeta-Jones, the nervous wreck that John Cusack is, the the crazy director, absolutely brilliant Hank Azaria, and fenomenal Alan Arkin as the "wellnes guide" and so on - they are all brilliant and almost too true to be funny! But it is all funny, and Hollywood guys need to learn to laugh at themselves.
BTW, you HAVE TO see the scene that's on a DVD as a deleted scene - a scene with John Cusack and director's daughter Keri Lynn Pratt is just too hillarious!

I LOVE this film so much!!! I went to see it in the pictures for my birthday (I think it was my 12th) and have loved it ever since, so it's not surprising I now own the DVD and could probably talk in sync with the actors.

This film is so funny and sweet; I love the last few scenes with Eddie and Kiki. Hank Azaria, who plays Hector, cracks me up in most of his films (Notably Grosse Point Blank and Anastasia :cough:JohnCusack:cough:) and this is no exception.

"I really want to play a character like the terminator because I think the Hispanic people are crying out for a deadly, destructive, killing machine that they can embrace as their own."

(I think that's about right)

John Cusack is really cute in this movie!!! It's already established that he's a great actor, I mean look at Being John Malkovich, but the fact that he is very attractive just ads to the appeal. He's great as Eddie and he and Julia Roberts are a cute couple. I like Julia’s role as poor, put-upon Kiki and you do feel happy for her in the end.

Catherine Zeta-Jones plays the b*tch to perfection (this is the second time she's dumped John Cusack on screen, see High Fidelity) and as much as I dislike her character, she is quite funny.

I really get annoyed when critics go on about how it's not very hard-hitting, it's a romantic-comedy for *beep* sake, it's not supposed to be serious and deeply meaningful. This film really didn't get the acclaim it deserves, it cheers me up when I'm feeling down and I'd definitely call it one of my favourite films of all time. :D

I heard the same comment "It is not hard-hitting"... What a load of crap. IT is VERY hard hitting!
Which movie shows the main characters being two-faced to such a degree? Or better yet - an entire industry being mocked to such degree, and in such a fun, yet believable way?
The humor in this film is first rate. Here are some scenes that were done so well, they would be hard to replicate anywhere else (and they have never been done so well before):

- Wellness guide (Alan Arkin): "Makeitlikeasalabarbeamsalabeam". What does that mean? I don't know, it's very old...

- Stupid Lary King, I wanted to reach over and strangle him with his stupid suspenders! then someone passes by: "Larry says you were great!". Oh, I LOVE Larry!

- "Dear mom, f... you." OK, we'll try the letter some other time.

- Yesterday you said I was like a flower in a stream... "You put too much into what I say, listen to your heart!"

- ... We had something going... Or maybe I should just give you the papers... "You are the devil".

And so on. If you don't find duplicity disgusting and almost funny in real life you will miss all the good stuff in this film.

I love this movie! I feel that it was excellently cast, the actors played their roles really well and I loved the costuming, the location and the sets. Some people may criticize this movie because it's not all that serious or hard-hitting, but I feel that this film's levity is its particular genius.

And I loved the way that Billy Crystal poked fun at himself with the film clip from Autumn With Greg and Peg in the promo for Time Over Time that mimicked that famous fall scene in When Harry Met Sally. I giggle at that scene every time.

reply

No, you are not the only one who loved this movie. I was shocked when I read all the negative comments regarding this film. I hate to say it, but anyone who didn't love this movie was not able to appreciate the brilliance of Billy Crystal's script. This was one of the smartest screenplays to come down the pike in quite a while with a lot of Hollywood insider references that maybe Joe Schmo wouldn't get, but anyone who has even in a fleeting interest in the business of show business had to love this movie. A smart comedy with winning performances.

I got this movie from a bargain bin for something like $5. I say this movie is worth that. It isn't amazing, but it is cute.
