does anyone think that the character CZJ played was her true personality? i mean yeah she's gorgeous but don't take that in account when you are answering this question.
my reeason is that she has never been a great actress but only in this film she played the part of Gwen very good. so you think she was good because she didn't actually have to act and was just being herself?

p.s. i think Michael Douglas is too good for her.

Don't go and attack Nicole Kidman for an amazing performance. Personally, I didn't really like Chicago and Reneee Zellwiger really grated on my nerves. She is not that great of a singer. I did think that Catherine Zeta Jones did an excellent job, but the show was an ensemble masterpiece. Nicole Kidman deserved that award. She is one of the most talented actresses out there and I hope that her career continues to flourish.

By the way, Meryl Streep won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress against Queen, not Catherine, so I think that you ougta check your facts before you go bad mouthing a kick-butt actress like Catherine.

i'm not a big czj fan, but i personnaly think that she was great in chicago. better in fact than in america's sweetheart, where she obviously didn't have to work hard for that performance.

have you noticed that her character in chicago looks a lot like the one she plays in hal's movie in sweethearts?

Actually the quote is "Kiki, Kikikins. Do I smell smoke? Is someone smoking in a five mile radius of where I'm standing? Stop them Kiki, stop them". It actually comes across even bitchier when it's correct.

But, I do like CZJ's acting. Perhaps not so much her actual personality, but I wouldn't know. I've never met her.

i don`t think that she is personally like gwen...
and a lot of other actors that "mean" charakters are easier to play..
catherine zeta jones is a great actress!!

and to all people who are grumble about actors...do it better!!!

I don't know what CZJ is like, but Julia lost my vote as "America's Sweetheart" when she started pursuing a married man, then offered his wife a potload of money to end their marriage. The marriage may have been in trouble, but she sure didn't help any. That's skanky behavior in any book.

The man she's married to right now. He was married when they started "seeing" each other, and she offered his wife (I believe this is the right amount) $180,000 to just divorce him so they could get married. They finally divorced and she and Moder married. That's just skanky.

If you thought that was her true persona, than she is a fantastic actress! The one litmus test that never fails is this: if you watch a film and after credits roll you cannot imagine some actor being any different in real life, than they have done a great job. Not too many actors give me that impression with their performance, but CZJ did in this one, as did John Cusack, Alan Arkin and Stanley Tucci.

So, no, CJZ did not play her true personality, but she has been around Hollywood and has seen those types, so she had plenty of "material" to go by.

The role of Gwen was going to be played by Roberts. But she declined because she didn't want people to see her as the bad guy and switched with CZJ. Yep, CZJ is the bitch indeed.

She is a good actress, it's what she does. They all are good in their various roles here. The real test is how you feel about the character during and after the movie. In CZTs case, she really did come across as a two-faced, self-obsessed bitch - fabulous ACTING!

There is real life ... and then there are movies!
