What series does this movie go with???

I originally thought this series was supposed to follow the OVA. But now
that the TV series is out, the animation of the movie seems to fit with the new
TV series better.

Does the movie go with the TV series??? The way I see it the OVA and the Mini Goddess series go together then the TV series and the Movie.

If they continue the TV series for a third season I hope to see Morgan appear
somewhere down the line.

I know nothing of the Mini Goddess series but if I remember correctly the OVA is basically just a highly condensed version of the manga whereas the TV series is just a longer more accurate version. They aren't like alternate realites as some shows have done,(El Hazard, Tenchi, etc..)

So I think it's fair to say it would fit with either series.

That's what I originally thought. I thought the OVA and TV series were alternate
realities done in the same way as alot of other animes. The character designs of the mini goddess series seem to match better with the ova characters. The biggest character variation seems to be Urd. In the ova her hair style and overall look seemed more exotic, her tv counterpart is slightly more toned down, her ova and mini goddess version has long white hair, and her tv and movie version have shorter more normal looking silver hair. Her appearance in mini goddess seems to fit more with her ova appearance and her movie appearance matches more with her tv appearance.

Well, the movie and the new series are both directed by the same man. In fact, almost all of the crew members who worked on this film, also work on the new series. I'd say without a doubt this movie is supposed to take place a few seasons into the new series [as it begins with Belldandy's third spring on Earth].

The inclusion of "The Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses" was Pioneer's way of trying to sell more stuff. They just dub the Mini-Goddesses series and were bringing out the DVDs the year after the movie. The movie was created in 2000 and released in Japan in 2001, the Mini-Goddesses show was shown in 1998 in Japan.

The movie also includes some characters from the manga that never made it into the original OVA, such as Hidori [the Motor Club's original president, before she graduated]. So it's possible the movie may also take place in the manga storyline, somewhere after Volume 14.

It also includes a few of the vehicles from the manga [the roadster from the chapter where the NITMCC tries to win the gas efficiency race against Aoshima, the motorbike from the Dirt Track Spectacular, and the Go-Kart from the first race Belldandy ever took part in [which lead to the race in the three wheeled truck for the finale].

None of these were shown in the OVA and only the three-wheeled truck, and the Go-Kart have been featured in the new series. They skipped the roadster in the storyline and use the three-wheeled truck to settle a score with Aoshima instead. The Go-Kart is used by Sora in an episode where she is unconfident in herself, just before the LORD OF TERROR arc.

Long and the short of it. I believe this movie is supposed to be during the new anime at some point, but for now can also be viewed as a chapter from the manga as well.

I watched the series after seeing the movie and I thought the movie was SO much better than any of the series that I couldn't be bothered with watching the series at all.

Stick to the movie. Forget the series. And when you reach Belldandy's song at the end I defy ANYONE not to cry over it - I still cry over it every time.

Should have got worldwide release, as should Akira, Howl's Moving Castle, Dead Leaves (honest!), 3X3 Eyes (maybe, I think so, anyway........)
