Majora: a female?
During the boss fight, it sounds very feminine. Girly. It screams and giggles like a little girl. But maybe that's just what a mask sounds like?
Discuss.

Well, I have seen some fanart of Majora depicted as female...but I personally feel it's a male, if a very effeminate one. And Majora's Wrath definitely had the build of a male.
"We will disrupt their work day with a mildly offensive blinking neon light!"
The Forest Imp is not named Majora. He's just wearing a mask that belonged to someone named Majora. One first saw Forest Imps in Ocarina of Time.
Your world must have very dry literature.
Vegas, Majora was very feminine during the final battle, in which it is no longer connected to Skull kid.. or the imp as you put it.
In its second form, it squealed and sang like a girl.
Although it's third form was pretty masculine. Meh, maybe it was just a butchy gal.

Why is everybody so interested in the gender of an apparently genderless video game character? Why does everybody care? It's just a pile of pixels.
Your world must have very dry literature.
No one is bugging out over it. We're just curious. The game is brilliant in the mystery it builds for it's audience. We're discussing it. This is a message board.. Where people discuss things. Get it?

Well, I think you need to use your spare brainpower to discuss things of a more constructive nature rather than waste it on mysteries regarding video game character genders that will never be answered.
Get it?
Your world must have very dry literature.
Vegas, you need to remove the stick from out of your ass and realize this is a message board for a Zelda game. If you find discussing these things in fun nature with other gamers to be silly, then get the f#ck out. It's really that simple.
Majora's Mask is a work of art. Discussing it down to little details such as Majora's gender is no more different than discussing a piece of Picasso's work. The game is very symbolic and many of it's characters are crafted perfectly. There is no shame in talking about it. No one is here wasting their life away on it. No one is sitting around devoting their life work to solving the mystery that is Majora's Mask.
Some people just like to discuss it every now and then... Usually in a MESSAGE BOARD for the game.
GET IT?

Art is art. Whether it's Picasso or a second grade child. Most fans of Zelda would agree that MM IS a piece of art. To discuss it is no different from discussing Picasso's work or that second grader's art.
We're not talking about Skull Kid, first of all. I'm pretty sure it is made clear that Skull Kid is male.
We're discussing Majora. And yes, there is no answer - unless you go by the manga (which isn't canon). But that doesn't mean you shouldn't discuss it. Majora is a complex character. And considering it's gender is one of it's many mysteries.. Why not discuss it? The character displays a more feminine role.. but then transitions into a more masculine form.
Perhaps the answer is.. There is no gender. But that's what is meaning to be discussed.
It's called dissecting. With a game like MM, you dissect the characters.. the story.. the setting.. You try to gain more understanding of it.
Anyone who says "It's just a video game" or something similar to that is very ignorant. In the same way you wouldn't say "Shadow of the Colossus is just a game". It's interactive art.

First off, anybody who thinks The Skull Kid is Majora is an idiot. That's like thinking Frankenstein is the monster, not the creator. Neither is the mask Majora. Majora is not in the game, just something that belongs to somebody named Majora.
Second of all, anybody who thinks video games are art needs to see more art.
Your world must have very dry literature.
There is no proof whatsoever that Majora is an actual being. The game says that it was created and used for hexing rituals. Majora could be the name of the tribe who created the mask, for all we know. Only the manga, which isn't considered to be official, presents Majora in the form of a beast.
All we know is that the mask is powerful and transforms into a breathing creature by the game's end.
You are a very ignorant person if you don't think video games can be art. Film, video games, drawings, paintings, writing... it all can be made art. Think about the steps that go into making these games. Look up examples such as: Ico.. Shadow of the Colossus.. and the upcoming The Last Guardian. So much passion and talent goes into these games. It's someone's vision. It's someone's art.
Just because it's not some painting on the wall.. or a sculpture in a museum.. that doesn't mean it's not art.

You are a very ignorant person if you lend serious thought to such insignificant bits of trivia as the sex of a video game character. Why do you do this? Moreover, why are you DEFENDING it? I think you need to lend serious thought to getting a life.
Your world must have very dry literature.
Where is the serious thought for its gender? It doesn't take a genius to figure out there's no apparent gender. But there's nothing wrong with a few people exploring the idea of Majora's essence maybe having a gender.
Seriously, get the hell over yourself. Once again you prove to be ignorant by assuming I don't have a life. I'm a very productive person. Maybe not this last month and half, since I have mono.. But go ahead.. keep making yourself look more and more foolish.
You're an ignorant troll. Grow up, will ya?

Not productive enough, apparently.
Don't insult my intelligence by denying your last few posts.
Yes there is. You and these people need something more constructive to use your precious brainpower on.
*I* need to grow up? You're wasting time wondering about the gender of a video game character and you tell ME to grow up? Take your ample spare time and reconsider your priorities.
I'll tell you why you're defending all of this. Because you're a stark raving IDIOT.
Yeah, because discussing something entertaining every now and then is oh so pathetic, right?
How am I the idiot when you're having a trollish meltdown over a simple question asked by the OP?
You're pretty delusional if you think people are "wasting their time" on this subject.
Oh? And I should what? Be running around in public with mono? Good idea.
You're a flaming troll.
The gender of a video game character is not entertaining. It's TRIVIAL. So incredibly trivial, it shouldn't even register on the radar of intelligent people. Since you're lending serious thought to it, that makes you an idiot, and an extremely small-minded one at that. I don't care about such things, so calling me an idiot is only retribution, not based in fact. You shouldn't care about it either.
Calling me on the carpet for a meltdown when you've just indulged in one here? Don't be a hypocrite. And I just explained how you're an idiot. Why you're asking me about it again just proves my point.
The fact that there's a thread about(that you're posting speculation in) should be beyond obvious. Since you're not treating it as obvious means you're an idiot AND the delusional one. I'll bet two cases of red cream soda I'm going to have to explain this to you again.
Oh, on top of everything else, now you're playing the victim? It's not like you're dying. The only way it can be spread is through bodily fluids, "genius." Don't kiss or spit on anybody and you're good to go.
Yes! I am! So what? Make your point or get lost.
That's when you know you've won an argument. When the opposite side is reduced to cussing at you. :)
The point is, you're a troll.
There's nothing wrong with what the op asked.
I'm hardly having a melt down.
one comes here as a form of entertainment.
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS
I believe Majora / the spirit inhabiting Majora's Mask is indeed meant to be feminine in nature.
First you have anatomical refrences: Majora's Wrath appears to have breasts and ovaries.
Second Majora is very graceful especially in Incarnation form. That battle is essentially a dance. Many Zelda enemies are ugly or grotesque, but Majora has a dark beauty to it. The mask is in the shape of a heart, traditionally but not always this would be associated with feminity. And Majora's color scheme is mostly pink and purple.
The real question is, if this was the intention of the designers, what is the significance? All I can think of is that Majora's Mask is a kind of succubus. Is there a parallel to this in Japanese culture? I seem to recall seeing seductive female demons in various anime.
