Have They ever thought of Making a Zelda Film?

Just wondering because yesturday i was playing it and thought it would be
interesting to see this, or one of the others perhaps, as a film.
Have they ever thought of it?

reply

I wish they did. Back four years ago I remember it being the biggest rumor around, there was even a fake poster saying that it would be released in 2003. I have no idea as to why it's not being adapted to a screenplay, even Final Fantasy has released two movies and Prince of Persia is going for a first! If they do make a Legend of Zelda movie, I do hope that it's going to be 3D animated like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (fingers crossed). Personally I believe that actors could really ruin this movie if it was made live-action, just like Vin Diesel's selection of 47 has killed the character of the game thus far for many fans of the series.

And i can't really think of too many
Child actors around. Who would look like
or be able to play Link or the others?
I think the animation idea is a good one.

And I know many Video game films often distroy the games,
because the Directors don't follow the story-lines or charactors.
For intasnce Resident Evil, i my self have never played the game but
i know that many of the fans dislike the films because of these reasons.

It is! It is being read by a director! May be Steven Speilberg! It will feature a mix of Majora's Mask and OoT

Actualy they have. you may find some stuff about it from the web site ZHQ2.com. It dosent look too bad, but I think They are consitering live action. they need to be very carfull when they do something like that. Then agan, I havent been their in months, so I dont know how acurate this information is.

The Legend of Zelda: The Hero of Time at http://www.legendofzeldaseries.com/main.php?page=fanmovie.html. It's loosely based on OoT.

Actually that fan movie was an April Fools joke.

The decison of making a Zelda movie has been around for along time. If they were to make a Zelda movie, this is what I'd like to see...

1. Link still doesn't speak.
2. Have the movie based around Majora's Mask. MM is my favorite Zelda game.
3. Either 3D like FF: Advent Children or just Cartoon 2D.

It's not an April Fools joke; it's real and has been around since before April and is still around. Did you even check the website I gave?

Too good a franchise to ruin. Besides it would be difficult to make without it being compared to Lord of the Rings (i.e. Twilight Princess- ain't out yet but there has already been to many implications that they stole ideas from LOTR)

Yeah, I'd like to see a movie based on Majora's Mask, too, but I don't think they would do that because as a Zelda game it may seem too far out with too many people who'd be like "How can you have a Zelda movie/game with no Zelda, no Ganon, and no freakin' Triforce?"

I agree that adding a movie to the franchise would also be way too risky in general. Why spend so much time and ever and money into making sure the movie isn't crap when you can just make another awesome game?

Link's Awakening, has to be, even though it's ancient it's still the best Zelda game, storyline is awesome, it would be such a great intro when he gets washed up on the beach and has to try and find out where the hell he is.
But then i suppose it wouldn't really work as a first film.

I think it should be based around the original NES games because they were the ones that launched the entire Zelda franchise.

Nintendo stated somewhere that they weren't ever going to do an offical Zelda film - they probably learned their lesson after super mario bros hehe, though granted its was ok, it wasn't the super mario we all know and love!

yes it would be cool, but hollywood would need to put REAL money into it so it would'nt be a total flop. i've always been concerned that if they did make it into a movie, it would be marred by cheap animation and terrible acting. what they would need to do is make it almost the same way as lord of the rings. i can definitely see peter jackson directing, and i think he'd be able to pull it off if they put in real money and select well known actors and actresses.
