Any other good lesbian movies?

This was great cause I'm so sick and tired american pies and such already. Any other good movies out there that deal with the relationships as well as this? I'd like to see more about how this kind of relationships develop, ie. meeting, dating and so on.

There have been a lot of good contemporary films recommended on this subject but I would like to recommend two older films: THE FOX (1968) starring Anne Heywood and Sandy Dennis and THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE (1971)starring Beryl Reed and Suhsannah York.

Um. Good lesbian movies? Is that like even bad pizza is still pizza? If it smells bad it is bad? Are you looking for foreign pies? There's lots of Ellen. If you want serious, but subliminal lesbian stuff, just watch anything Disney from 2008 forward. There's also the Tinkerbell themed series and, of course Powerpuff Girls. If you are more explicit in your needs, you can follow anything Ellen Page or simply Google NOW and ask all the distorted, exceptionally challenged others there. Generally, relationships are the way you would expect in these films, but without a man. It's awesome! Even the people with a penis are characterized as completely useless. You'll love it. After all, only lesbian relationships are meaningful. 😤

Try Bound (1996)

But I'm A Cheerleader (1999)

Thirteen 2003, and anything here:

http://www.listal.com/list/top-30-lesbian-themed-movies

should get your rug bubbling.

If mysandry is your thing, there are plenty of revenge flicks for the we-hate-guys and want to see them suffer eternally crowd here:

Hope this helps whatever it is you hate and desire. Heh.

Fatal Attraction is good hate men stuff, as is most feminist influenced/themed films with Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and, of course, Julianne Moore who delights in emasculation as much as she does banking perversion with Pornhub. Nice Julianne. Real nice. Go girl. Poor Bart.

Don't forget Salmonberries/1991! Good film but requires some patience.
Another recommendation is the UK TV mini series of Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit/1990.That latter one stars Geraldine McEwan (the Mother Superior in The Magdalene Sisters) who I think is a really good versatile actress & always represents good value for money in any film or drama series.
Anyway, both the above are well worth seeing.

I agree - But I'm a Cheerleader is great! Really funny. Also, Lost and Delirious (it's got Piper Perabo, from Coyote Ugly as Paulie, and she does it beautifully), it's more of a drama one, though, not comedy, but it's brilliant. I cried at the end - not an easy thing to do. Beware though, if you're not a lesbian (but a closet-when-it-comes-to-family-bi sexual) then parents start asking questions when too many gay or lesbain movies appear in the DVD shelf.

~at least once more, as always~

Try Goldfish Memory. Witty ensemble comedy set in Dublin.

Separation is not the end of love; It creates love.

Fabulous list and I could add a few more....

1.Heavenly Creatures (interesting film based on a true story. Kate Winslet is
wonderful in one of her first major roles)
2.The Hours (what a wondeful film on so many levels I just have to add it in)
3. The Hunger (Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon, need I say more?)
4. Les Voleurs (Thieves USA title) interesting french film, also stars Catherine Deneuve she plays a lesbian university professor)
5.Portrait of a Marriage - this may be hard to get a hold of as it was a British MasterPiece Theatre production done in 1990 but if you can get a copy of it well worth watching. Also a real life story of English writer Vita Sackville West and her passionate affair with Violet Keppel. Janet McTeer as Sackville-West is fabulous.

And how could I forget.....

6.Aimee and Jaguar - German film with fabulous production value and a true story of two women in love during the Nazi Occupation of Germany.
7.Fire- Film by Canadian Director Deepa Mehta but filmed in India- beautiful love story between two women.
8. Saving Face - lovely little romantic comedy.

Lost And Delirious is amazing

I`d like to add 5 more to this list

Gray Matters - stars Heather Graham

Imagine Me & You - another Piper Perabo role

The Sex Monster - Mariel Hemmingway in a man`s nightmare - a 3-some where the wife discovers her preference for women

Personal Best - Mariel Hemmingway again

Summer Lovers - only peripheral lesbian story but a young Daryl Hannah shines

Also good are:

I can't think straight
The world unseen
But I'm a cheerleader
Nina's Heavenly Delights
DESERT HEARTS

There is also one of the first mainstream European movies

Therese & Isobel

A French girl's school is the setting - Lost & Delirious is probably based on this movie, the endings are very similar

I recommend Show Me Love (1998), http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0150662
The original Swedish title is "F***ing Åmål".

reply

Fucking Åmål is the best lesbian themed movie I've seen. In fact, it's one of the best movies I've seen period.

Smaken är som baken - delad!

I've got a good suggestion: Heavenly Creatures. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110005/
