A Keen Observation (The ending and what could have been)

I just finished watching this film and I have mixed feelings about the ending. There was a moment when I felt some tension between Jessica and Josh (no duh they used to go out, but...). The scene I'm referring to is the dinner scene near the beginning where Jess was set up with that guy who was already seeing someone. Did you see the way they looked at each other during that conversation? How she reacted to Josh's meticulous observation about her relationships? Yes, Jessica must have been upset, inside. However, that look on her face did not illustrate anger or contempt, but awe.

Although Josh came across as an *beep* for being blunt in front of everyone (which was rude), I think he was simply frustrated at the fact that Jessica didn't know what she wanted in a relationship and it hurt him because he still liked her (the writer should have added some backstory to that relationship!). Although she was with Helen, I don't think she was a full blown lesbo. Bisexual at least because she did not have much sex with Helen. Furthermore, she did not push Josh away when he leaned over to kiss her (Obviously she liked it. Why else would she put her arms around his neck and lean forward?) on the roof during the wedding even though she was Helen at that time. This could also mean she still had feelings for him.

Overall, I liked the film. But that ending was rushed and soiled everything that was built up toward that point. The way I see it the writer could have improved the story in three ways. One, end the story with Jessica remaining single. Two, Jessica stays with Helen. Or three, end the film as we all saw, but add more scenes and dialogue concentrating on Josh and Jess's relationship prior to their break up. The bookstore scene would have made more sense.
