Mangy mutt hurt the movie

The "enormous hound" looked like he weighed maybe 45 pounds!! They needed to get some big irish wolfhound of 200 pounds and die his hair black and then show the hound a lot in the movie.

The eyes also looked fake. In the book, the hound was covered in phosphorous to make it glow. But I couldn't believe that even if Stapleton blinded the creature, its eyes would've looked that way. Maybe for the first few hours before the blood drained. I hope they didn't hurt the dog in this film adaptation by messing with its eyes. To me, the hound was only mildly scary, but that's because I was attacked by a dog of its size in my youth.

Not only was it not big, it wasn't even a hound!

I agree. It looked more like a half-grown Belgian Sheepdog (Gronendael) with red contacts! Maybe a German Shepherd/Great Dane mix would've been better.

I've never seen a version of hound where the dog was big enough. They always get a dog that's way too small.
