McNish was right. Why didn't Shackleton approve McNish's plan?
Hindsight is always perfect, but that was a mistake.

The bigger question is about the three men who trekked over South Georgia Island.
Shackleton and one of his men, Worsely, thought there had been a fourth man with them.
So who was the fourth man?

The "fourth man" wasn't intended to be taken literally. The guys just had the feeling that someone was watching over them and protecting them, like a God figure.
