doesn't compare with the book

We read the book in castellano class, but strangely we saw the film first. The film was boring and hard to follow the plot. I wasn't looking foward to reading the book, but the book itself is brilliant, it isn't half as confusing as the film can be and has a lot more background to all the characters. The author (joan mars‚) must have teared his hair out at the premiere.

Haven't read the book yet but, yes, the film was boring and confusing. I was really trying to get into it and enjoy it but most of Fernando's films are slow paced anyway. Belle Epoque was no exception but that story was entertaining because of the characters and the plot.

Shanghi was just a convoluted mess.

Can't believe it cost a reported 7 million to make.
