So, who was the ... (spoilers) ??

The ending baffled me a bit. Who was the assasin who shot Omar in Shanghai? And Why?? Who was the snitch who led to the resistance operatives in Barcelona all being captured by the SS?? Was Francisco Franco behind any of this??

I'm still confused about the relative "goodness" or "evilness" of Kim, Forcat, Denis, Omar, et al. I've not yet read the book, perhaps that would be a good idea (would that I could only find a copy!). Until then, does anybody have anything to add that might enlighten me??

Same here. Totally confused about who is who and who did what to whom, and why.
This takes away from the movies enchantment greatly, because the set-up really is a marvel. Why, in the end, does the girl become some sort of pin ball being hurled back and forth between the two guys? I don't even care so much who shot the guy in the end, but I would like to know if ANY of what Forcat had been telling the kids (and us) had been true at all? Any of the Shanghai story??
