A boring voyage

A number of reviews have used 'boring' or 'convoluted' to describe this film, and I would tend to agree. I can think of other adjectives as well: 'ponderous' is one, 'slow-moving,' 'detached,' and certainly 'confusing' are others. Even at the 40-minute mark, I wasn't 'in' the film at all. I wasn't 'engaged,' as the expression has it. I kept rewinding, thinking I had missed something vital. Nothing really seems to happen in this film for at least an hour; it could have been a stage play. And the ending? Well, the ending is...I don't know what. If there were profound philosophical messages at work here, the flick might have been redeemable. It's very nice to look at, but a film has to have more than mere appearance.
