Neither is hero -spoilers-

Devilman is a "freak" loving his girlfriend Miki, fights to protect her despite being half demon, possessed by the most powerful of demons Amon.

At the end Miki dies and Devilman , rightfully freaks out, there is some consolation at the end but feels just hollow, fell sorry for the devilman, shy and quiet guy drawn in to this hell, he is a half demon, his beloved Miki dead his existence as a demon meninges afterwards.
