A worst Horror movie i have seen ever

I deeply wonder how are they asking a question that why has'nt been this movie was not listed in top 250

Ofcourse it should'nt be even in top 1000

Please dont watch this crap

Absolute waste

reply

I enjoy it, and I generally like to make up my own mind on such things, but thanks for sharing your opinion.

reply

Yeah well its upto u... There were two jumpy scares when the tentacle girl was introduced and there was a gud humor when paul tried to run the engine but he accidently ignited the horn...

i dont find anything else interesting... pufffff .... 2/10

reply

If this is the worst horror movie you've ever seen, you must have a very limited exposure to horror movies.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

ur wrong king of bob...

i have a very gud exposure to many horror movies these days and i find this movie and the thirst was ever worst...

movies like dark floors grudge ring uninvited were the real best as far as i had watched...

nothin else

reply

You need to expose yourself to some ACTUALLY good horror movies. Go watch The Thing, or Susperia. You're living in a world where horror before 1998 didn't exist evidently.

There are better movies out there than Dagon, but there are certainly much worse. Try watching Blood Sucking Freaks sometime. And there are definitely better movies than The Ring and The Grudge.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

you are right king...

am not much exposed to horrors before 2000

the only horror movie i had seen before is Evil dead when i was a kid...

there are better movies than grudge and ring? nice to hear that... can u name them? Of course supernatural horror movies from 2000

reply

Thanks for the info and those movie list kupotek

Dark water, 6th sense, the shining, Shutter, Psycho were the best as far as i had seen according to your list...

A tale of two sisters was not that good when compared to The Uninvited

The story was collapsed in tale of two sisters... I didnt like audition that much as i had mentioned in different posts... Dagon, Audition, and The thirst comes in the same list... the worst movies for me...

anyway thanks for sharing your time to give me that long list... had you find any other best movies after 2000... cause i dont like to watch it before 2000 period..

reply

Great horror movies after 2000

28 Days Later
American Psycho
A Tale Of Two Sisters
Battle Royale
Behind The Mask
The Cottage
Dagon
The Descent
The Eye (original)
Final Destination
Frailty
Ginger Snaps
High Tension
Let the Right One In
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
[REC]
The Ring
Session 9
Shaun of the Dead
The Signal
Suicide Club
Visitor Q

A Tale of Two Sisters is a far more complexly directed and scripted story than Uninvited. Uninvited is to me, one of the worst horror films I've ever seen. Very cliche, very mediocre, I hated that film.

A Tale of Two Sisters is a profoundly stirring story about how the mind deals with trauma. In this case the death of a sister, and one's own arrogance. The music is amazing. And a lot of the story is actually shown from the view of the disturbed mind so what you see is not really what is happening.

I can see how this could be confusing to some.

kupotek thanks for the list dude...

i had seen all the films in your list except ginger snaps and high tension...

heard frailty is bit boring... is that so? imdb rating is also low for that movie...

While seeing on script basis i accept your thought about A tale of two sisters...

But while coming into screenplay uninvited is best than that according to me...

the movie was totally confusing... if u had watched it carefully u can see that the step mom will be talking to the girl who is dead(before they reveal that she is dead)... wat a crap was that?

reply

I don't remember that part, I'll have to rewatch it, it's been awhile.

Frailty is an excellent movie, especially for being Bill Paxton's directorial debut. I thought it was fantastic and the ending is sweet.

Decent list but some of those movies are dark comedies and not horror. The ones you listed include:

Bubba Ho-Tep
Delicatessen
Fido
Killer Klowns from Outer Space

And Pan's Labyrinth a horror movie? I don't think so.

Are you asking about Pan's Labyrinth?

Yeah.

I wouldn't consider it horror. It's more like a fantasy/drama. To me a horror movie main purpose is to scare the crap out of you.

Dagon (2001) - 4 outta 10 stars

I wasn't a big fan of Bubba Ho-Tep. I liked My Name is Bruce a lot better.

The Thing, which came out in 1982. Though it's an alien entity rather than supernatural. The Wolfman. Night Watch. Fallen. The Host. Some of them are pre-2000, but you shouldn't restrict yourself to movies made after a certain date.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

king of bob, i dont restrict them... i am a visual effects artist and i expect those kind of qualities and screening which is way different before 2000...

thats why i dont watch them much..

reply

If you're a visual effects artist, then one would think you would be more interested in learning about visual effects before you could do everything with a few clicks on a computer. When visual effects actually took effort.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

"A few clicks on the computer"?!
You know that I know that that's a little unfair.
Thousands of man-hours perhaps. The the old-school effects on The Thing were great, and the interview with the FX guy on the DVD is really funny and interesting BTW.

reply

My point was just that refusing to acknowledge that visual effects used to take a lot more effort. And that the above posters suggestion that movies pre-2000 aren't worth watching because visual effects sucked before the advent of computer effects is ridiculous.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

The old FX might have taken great physical achievements, and intricate sets, and lots of guys with wires. But I wouldn't say it was harder.

Just because a team is seen using a computer, doesn't make the whole thing easy.

But some effects were dreadful, and that's no different from now.

Forest Gump from 1994 uses CGI in an amazing way, but I bet they charged a lot of money for it, and were given a decent time to do it in.
Maybe you thought it was just a bunch of kids mucking about with a mouse.

I didn't say harder... I said it took more effort, and you just kind of proved my point.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

'Harder' and 'more effort' say the same thing. I'm sorry if I got confused there!
I'm just say you don't seem to acknowledge the all hard work using these damned computers involves - especially getting it right.
But that's a common theme in the industry.

reply

No they don't. Neither are exactly easy, but a lot more planning, people and technical know how were required for the old school effects, which speaks to effort, not difficulty.

I'm just say you don't seem to acknowledge the all hard work using these damned computers involves - especially getting it right.

I understand it's hard work, but it's a completely different kind of work. For example, let's compare Alien with Alien Vs Predator. Both are feature heavy use of effect shots, but there is a huge difference in how those effect shots were accomplished.

Let's just explore the ship effects in the two movies. For Alien models and full size set pieces were used, which required someone to conceptualize the ships and another group of people to actually build them, and another group of people to operate them(the landing sequence). While in AVP you could have one guy in a room design, build and operate the ship all on his computer.

When I say effort, I don't just mean the difficulty, but how much had to go into the process and how many people needed to be involved.

Prof. Farnsworth: Oh. A lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm-My-Own-Grandpa!

reply

But it's not one guy in a room though, is it.
Depending on the type film of course, but you could need:
* Modellers, as things still have to be built, just inside the computer instead.
* Skilled animators.
* Possibly some digitising rooms to scan people and objects into the computer.
* Motion capture warehouses with animation cleanup people.
* Texturing teams, and lighting.
* Pixel shader programmers.
* The need to be on set with reflection and ambient lighting globes to capture local illumination models - something that this film could have done with, as colour and lighting matches are really important for realism.
* Render farms, needing technical staff.
* Post production teams, to matte the graphics to the film. And do all the overlays and filtering.
* Comunication and co-ordination between all the different units and general project management.
* Ridiculously short deadlines to achieve all this, because some director somewhere thinks it's all easy to do.

It is extraordinary how many teams of people are involved these days.
Having said all that, there does appear to be far too many people on the credits of films these days. It's a wonder they ever get anything done at all!
:)

reply

I don't usually comment but, lol owned.

reply

NOT REALLY. Practical is always greater then computer effects!!

reply

People who don't bother a lot beyond basic applications think programming and graphic designing is easy.

I'm sure you can find other good horror films before 2000.

"America isn't ready for a gay, mexican chicken sandwich" - Poultrygeist

reply

I love Susperia!

reply

I wouldn't even consider the movies you just listed as horror movies they're so lame. I could name off 2000 movies under the horror category (such as gore and exploitation films....there's real horror for you....) But considering your list, I'm guessing you're rather young and the movies I would recommend would probably make you vomit and cry.

reply

While I don't think this film deserves to be in the top 250, I thought it was pretty good.

The main character had a little warmth and humour, which is difficult to do in a film such as this, and although the film has little correlation to HP Lovecraft's story, the film, to me, at least captured much of the spirit and atmosphere.

I've certainly seen much worse than this.

I agree this movie is horrible. I had to go back and watch the trailer and make sure it was the same movie after watching the reviews. Maybe it's because I don't have a particular fear of fish people with plastic spears and unrealistic-looking everythings.

Take a look at that cover. If you think that is a scary/believable-looking monster type creature, you will probably enjoy this movie. When I look, I see a guy with oil-based face paint and poor theatrical orthodontics. I believe his eyes were retouched after the picture, there were no contacts or anything. furthermore, he looks like a person that has been forced to hold his mouth open for a long time(like at the dentist) his eyes are not expressing anything, (anger, sadness, happiness) it looks like he might be yawning or letting everyone within ear shot know there is a train coming. Unfortunately, You CAN judge this one by it's cover.

For me- Story was hard to swallow, the FX were horrible, the cinematography was horrible. I kept thinking, 'did they stumble upon a Spanish village or the year 1978?' because it looked like the latter. I felt like it was the scene in clash of the titans (old one) where the Kraken comes. Not believable and worse, it was BORING, worst part of the entire movie(he looked like the creature from the black lagoon, and he's not scary, even when he's 100 ft tall) and here, in case someone likes to bored and have their intelligence questioned all at once, is Dagon, a full-length rendition of what it's like to watch a whole town go nuts for a fishy guy no one has ever heard of. As the man's nightmare in the movie was a prelude to his Dagonian horror, this movie was indeed a prelude to Justin Beiber.

I was almost as happy to see this one end as I was to see Vanilla Sky. I still regret watching that (and this) movie.

reply

You regret watching Vanilla Sky?

" A worst horror movie I have seen ever"

I rest my case.
