How was Affleck in this?

I havent seen this movie, but i was just curious, did Affleck do a decent job in this movie? The guy takes so much bad press and does such bad movies and i dont think hes a great actor but i do like him. Ive seen him act in good roles
before (i.e. Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Good Will Hunting) so i was just wondering, weather u like this movie or not, how does good old ben do?

so you laugh, you know, im not saying i dont cry, but in between,i laugh.

Unlike nearly every other non-Kevin Smith movie, Ben Affleck actuallty does a good job in this.

I thought he did well in this movie. Take away those goofy romantic roles, give him a serious character to play and then he's good. He was also good in "Karma", because like in "Changing Lanes" he plays a pensive distraught character and not a pretty boy.

All that cutesy Bennifer crap from over a year ago was a turnoff, it made people take him less seriously. Hopefully he'll stick to serious roles and ditch the dumb "Jersey Girl" nonsense.

I have to say that this is one of Ben Affleck's best performances, if not his best. This film could have gotten him and Sam Jackson an Oscar nod at least. "Changing Lanes" was really overlooked.

Regardless of his other roles that have been mediocre (Armageddon, Paycheck), he pulled off a terrific performance in "Jersey Girl", which was an impressive romantic comedy. Acting, direction, and story was well handled.

I have to agree. This is probably Affleck's best perfomance to date and although it might not have been Oscar nom worthy it at least gives us the hope that maybe the current state of his carreer is due mostly to (very) bad choices in the projects that he has done. He can pull off comedy a la Good Will Hunting and Changing Lanes proves that he can do drama. He just needs to put more effort into finding the right projects.

What is Karma? I've never heard of it, but then many movie titles get changed when they go overseas and get translated to different languages.

It's not who you love, it's how.

Perhaps flash_girl meant "Dogma"?

He was really great in this movie

This film was about as good as rotten fish flavoured ice cream, in fact no it was worse. Why do film makers think we the public need to be spoon fed these crap, poorly written morality tales. Affleck did give his best performance for years but that was still crap. Jackson was poor at best, and all these other posts talking about Oscar material, perhaps you're right, maybe it should have got a mention, it wouldn't have been out of place amongst all the other Hollywood drivel that actually get wheeled out every year to get awards

I thought that affleck sucks big time, I thought this role he played was about as intresting as things you find in your toilet. sorry people he has done a heap better.

ben is good as he is in most of the movies were is a lead, he gets bad press because the press are a bunch of star f'ers. i think he is a ever good actor, but that xmas movie sucked

I think his performance is a little better than average compared to other roles i've seen him do. That's not saying much though...I usually think his acting is not great and a bit stiff.

I'm not a Ben Affleck fan but he seemed to do ok in this movie, and it wasn't ruined just because he was in it.

Personally, he's the reason I came and searched out this movie on IMDB. Several times I noticed how poorly he was acting in this. I'm not familiar with his other movies but clearly he's a young actor and was overacting some parts when it really wasn't necessary.

Samuel L. Jackson was perfect in this part as in all of his roles.

That is the difference between natural talent and just a plain wannabe.

I did enjoy Ben Afflecks charecter in this movie up until the end, to chage from what he was to who he became just seemed unrealistic to me, in reality who would throw all of that away? I just didn't believe the charecter change. I prefered Affleck in "Boiler Room" (and not because he was only in it for about 7 minutes), personly I think he did a much better job.

every film has a begining, middle and an end, but not always in that order

His performance in here is definitely one of his best. The Town, Hollywoodland, Good Will Hunting, Armageddon, Boiler Room and Dogma definitely show his range. He's a good actor.

Generally, I think Affleck is ok. I've never agreed with all the hate. But this is one of his weaker performances. Maybe it's because this is a weaker film overall.
