I'm surprised of course that the girls were only 14 and 15. Lovely.

The most shocking thing is, I think, the way the men were treated as the victims and the girls abused by the public when it should have been quite the other way round. I'm rather glad they romanticised the film..

early on in the writing there was a push to make the story dark and brutal. Some of these abductions were practically rape, and some of the producers preferred to take the story in that direction. But the joy of the story as it ended up was the character of the two guys, and the strength of the two girls. If this wasn't to be a romp, it wouldn't be any sort of a film. Thankfully good sense won through, and after the second draft it went down the romantic adventure route...
