"Scripts"?

I would be really, really interested in reading the outlines (the "scripts" of the show) that Larry David writes. In interviews they (the cast) say that they're about seven pages long with spare (or non-existent) dialogue. Doing a show that way is pretty unique and I'd love to see what the cast and crew start with.

Does anybody know if these are available?

I tried looking for some as well.. I know back in the day Seinfeld's "The Parking Garage" script could be found online.. but nothing for Curb.

Larry has said certain phrases or exact words are also scattered throughout and mostly all improv

reply

Yeah, I can find a bunch of Seinfeld scripts online, but not Curb. I was just curious what they look like because this kind of outline-only scripting is pretty rare.

prettay, prettay, prettay rare

This one must be fake then:

Yeah, it doesn't seem real. According to the cast, Larry David doesn't write that much dialogue. They say he'll only write a couple lines per episode (at most) and the rest of what he writes is just the scenario.

I have a feeling thats what larry david did best, even with seinfeld. He can in invent but cant implment.

reply

I don't think that it's a lack of implementation. I think what he does is create the hardest part: a working plot with great characters. Then he hires quality talent who can learn those characters inside-and-out (often by just having them be themselves as with Richard Lewis, or by having them play into type with Jeff Garlin) and then he just rolls.

For instance, when the scenario calls for Larry's obituary to say...well, not "Beloved Aunt", and he's confronted by the family, anything that comes out of their mouths is funny because the scenario is good.

I was just referencing car periscope season 8 i think. Larry can invent he just cant implement his intentions.

I missed it. Du-doi...

Well-played!
