Porno Gil episode

It was probably one of the weirdest episodes, from the crazy lady who wouldn't give Larry back his directions to Gil's porn speech at the dinner table, which was not funny yet all of his 'friends' seemed to be in stitches.

Couldn't blame Cheryl for wanting to leave asap.

And as for Gil's psychotic, crazy-eyed wife...let's just say that I yelling for Larry to run, not walk out of that house!

I've been watching episodes of Louie a lot recently, honestly Porno Gil feels way more like an episode of that series than of CYE to me. All the stuff with Gil's story and then his wife having the meltdown at Larry feels straight out of Louie to me.

reply

Yes, it was a funny episode but kinda felt out of place with the other CYE episodes.

reply

That Louie show is absolutely the best. It is not on Canadian Netflix for some stupid reason.

reply

What is Louie. Is this a fabulous show I should be watching? I didn't mind Porno Gil. I didn't think it was out of place. In fact, whenever I think of Los Angeles, that whole episode is how I view celebrities living there.

reply

I don't know. I thought it was a great episode. Inappropriate stories don't make me uncomfortable. I think the level of vulgarity in the show is excellent. I think sometimes they try to hard to use the word '*beep*' an unnatural amount of times though. It is not offensive. It is just clearly laboured.

reply

If i was friends with an ex-porn star id be over to hear stories every night, *beep* would be hilarious. seemed totally out of character to me, larry isnt the uptight type. seems like he'd be interested to hear about the story and probably ask a bunch of off the cuff questions. cheryl I can see, shes an uptight bitch.

reply

The movie Gil was in was hilarious.

reply

I don't know who I couldn't stand more, Porno Gil's spiteful friend that got offended at Larry not picking up his golf ball, or the guy in the bowling alley who stole Larry's shoes.

reply

I loved that one, and totally related to Larry not wanting to take off his shoes.

I can relate too, especially since I went to a party and the host's had a similar request.

Some of the guys had the same style of shoes that I had and it was very awkward, to say the least, trying to figure out which shoes were mine!

Just ugh!

reply

My Dad was living with a woman who had the same shoe deal. I didn't think much of at first, but her (rich) boss would drop over and she'd never ask him to remove whatever he had on his feet. Once I found out he was leaving, I'd clop around all over the place.

It's definitely weird, but also very L.A. and even more Hollywood. They don't mock it as "Hollyweird" for nothing. The people are largely a bunch of self-absorbed, self-entitled degenerates, which was very well exemplified by Brian Palermo's character. Mainstream industry people are royally twisted and insane enough as they are, so I figure the situation in the adult film industry isn't much better, and probably even more degenerate and insane.

All in all a near flawless snapshot of your average pseudo-yuppie weirdos and nouveau riche in L.A.

reply

"Welcome to the house that cum built."..........great line.

reply

It was fun how they made Gil seem somehow lecherous by asking for Cheryl's jacket. Plus you had the hostess having a go at Larry before screaming "GIL!". I've been to parties like that (not former porno stars) when the guests are their real estate agents, designers, etc.

reply

I liked on The Office when Bob Odenkirk (Porno Gil) referenced Curb Your Enthusiasm.

reply

I liked that episode! The off-vibe kind of worked well, and the ending is pure gold.
"eh.. friend of mine" lol!
