It's a guilty pleasure for me too!

Me too! Even had a hilarious chick fight between Gwyneth Paltrow and Christina Applegate. How could you not love it??!

My favorite scene is Donna freaking out on her first take off when she hears the landing gear come up. Everytime we fly now, my partner and I cannot resist the urge to repeat the dialogue when the landing gear retracts. What was that? Don't worry it was just the wheels. We lost a wheel? Oh my God. We're all gonna die! - So far we have resisted the urge to get up and run up and down the aisle screaming in panic so we haven't been thrown off a plane yet.

This is a stupid fun movie and I love it. It was never meant to be taken seriously and people who cannot realize there is room at the theatre for all genres - from dramas, to documentaries, to horror, to action, really need to not take themselves so frickin seriously.

Amen to that!
Plenty of good jokes and great funny moments, if you are open to them.
There are tons of films out there that pretend to be funny (but are not funny at all) and got better ratings than this film; people should just chill and enjoy it!
Besides her first flying experience, even the opening of the film with "Brenda in barbeques" exchange and the "Birthday card" was hilarious. And then, there are those fine moments like the gay guy being open about things that the dinner host is not quite enamored with... or Mike Myers, with his "procedures" schtick and Gwyneth's priceless reaction...

I agree. Sometimes we need a movie that is pure fluff. It was like cotton candy for the mind. I really enjoyed it.

*raises hand* Me too! A simple comedy that's fun.

I suppose, that stewardess is a "dream job" for small girls just like fireman is a "dream job" for small boys. So in a way, it makes perfect sense, connects to your inner child.

i really love this movie, its harmless, cute and kitschy. It does not try to be more than what it is. Pure camp and fun. I loved the flight attendants' uniforms too.

reply

It is so bad, it's actually good! Seriously, the campy humor is just classic. You've gotta love a movie that isn't afraid to make fun of itself. This is a cult classic. I loved it.

reply

I'm watching it on tv right now... 'asses the window'....awesome.

I thought it was funny. Terrible movie...but funny lol

A View form the Top is a cult classic in the Flight industry, me and my friends used to watch this one special occasions when in avionatics school. Because it's really inspiring for us in the flight industry. :D

I thought it had a couple of funny moments too, it's not like it's the worst movie I've ever seen. in fact, I found it rather cute!:)

I thought it was a really bad, funny movie. I've seen it a couple of times, and it makes me laugh.

I am guilty of loving it too! At first I sat and wondered..."What the heck am I watching this for?" But everytime it comes on tv...i find myself tuning in, where ever it is! I love anything that can poke fun. Dumb comedies, romantic comedies.

Sort of like Napoleon Dynamite...sat through it once, couldn't figure out why..my husband made fun of me for watching it. I came home one day, and he was watching it and laughing too! Now, everytime it's on, we tune in!

I have to agree. This is a good light-hearted romantic comedy, calmly funny (not rolling in the aisle funny). I've certainly seen far worse, this one I would give at least a 7 for this genre of movies. I don't know why it rated so low.

reply

how could people hate it?..I don´t understand!!..it´s a great movie!!!
maybe i loved it a lot cause I know many people that had the same work/life experience...
I saw how they struggled, suffered, deceived...and finally had what they always fought for...it´s a very good comedy based in many real human/life facts that happen everyday...
A "human" comedy...

7/10

Objectively, people have no idea of what is actually bad. To most of them, guilty pleasure = bad.
This is nothing more than a silly comedy, and not even one of the worst. It's decent and enjoyable enough. And this is not coming from a Gwyneth Paltrow fan, beware.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
