1995 Survivor Series Review

One of my favorite SS ppvs. The Fink starts off by making a suprise introduction, making his return to the WWF Mr Perfect!!! McMahon JR and Perfect are gonna tripleteam the commentary tonight.


Match #1

8 Man Elimination Match

Barry Horowitz, Marty Jannetty, Bob Holly, and Hackushi Vs Skip w Sunny, Rad Radford, Dr Tom Prichard and a mystery partner.


Mystery partner turns out to be the freshly heeled 1-2-3 Kid, who did so by making a fast 3 count that let Sid beat Razor on an episode of Raw. Razor tries coming to ringside but the officials chase him back. Dibiasie pays off Jean Pierre Lafitte so Kid could take his place in the match. Jannetty starts off with the Kid and quickly gains the upper hand. Kid bails and Radford tags in and gets some of the same. Holly in and he leapfrogs Rad and Radford leapfrogs him then eats Holly's dropkick. Hackushi in and he gets beat on then Kid tags in and gets booed big time, he misses a splash off the second rope then Holly tags back in and gets caught in the corner, no consistent advantage either way, everybody tagging in and doing their moves of doom and then making mistakes so somebody else can tag in. Prichard misses a moonsault then Holly goes up top and hits a flying bodypress to pin Prichard at 5:13 then gets immediatley rolled up by Skip and pinned at 5:20ish. Horowitz in and I designated them the captains since they got the feud. Hackushi in and he gets dropped by Skip who then follows with a Ric Flair flop. Tag race and Kid and Hackushi tag in and Hackushi goes off on Kid, hitting the handspring elbow in the corner. Razor watching backstage with his buds then Hackushi gets pinned by Skip after Kid kicks him in the back from the apron and Skip grabs a handful of tighty whities at 8:04. In a stupid babyface move Horowitz runs in to help Hackushi and gets jumped. Radford in and he goes to pin Barry but Skip tells him not to. McMahon comes to the conclusion that Skip wants the glory. Crowd pulling for Horowitz and Perfect can't understand it. Radford gloats and gets pinned by Horowitz at 11:27. Horowitz goes after Skip next who blind tags Kid then 123 drops Horowitz quick and pins him after a legdrop at 12:20. That leaves Jannetty against Skip and The Kid. Marty sends Skip into the ropes and ducks his head and gets a punt in the chest for it. Skip tries a powerbomb but Jannetty wiggles out of it and goes into a sunset flip for 2. Jannetty knocks down Skip then goes up top where Sunny shakes the ropes to crotch Marty. Skip goes after him and the best spot of the night as Jannetty super powerbombs Skip off the top rope!!! Holy fking sht!!! Jannetty pins Skip easy at 14:58. Down to 1 on 1 and Kid beats on a worn out Jannetty then misses some kind of lameass somersault off the top rope. Whiel Jannetty gains control of the match Dibiasie calls Sid to ringside and you can bet what happens next. Sid eventually gets involved and stunguns Marty on the top rope so the prick Kid can pin Jannetty at 18:29. Razor destroys the tv monitor backstage. Sole survivor The 1-2-3 Kid Good opener. 3 stars.


Owen, Yokozuna, Dean Douglas and Jim Cornette rag on Razor and tell him to get with it for their wildcard match.

Match #2

8 Woman Elimination Match

Womens Champ Alundra Blayze, Kyoko Inoue, Sakie Hasegawa and Chaparita Asari Vs Bertha Faye w Harvey Whippleman, Aja Kong, Lioness Aska, and Tomoko Watanabe


Have no fking idea who is who really. Lioness uses a big swing on Asari then Chaparita hits a sky twister and hotags (1 minute into the match?) and Alundra hits her german suplex pin to get rid of Lioness Aska at 1:21. Watanabe and Hasegawa next and Watanabe buttdrops on Hasegawa and ALMOST gets a pin. Aja tags in then gets a t bone suplex from Hasegawa that looks vicious. Aja pins Hasegawa at 3:38 then she takes out Asari with a splash at 4:03. Kyoko in for the first time and gets taken out quick enough with a butt drop by Aja at 4:40. That leaves Alundra against Bertha, Aja and Watanabe. Blayze hits a sickhouse piledriver on Watanabe and pins her at 6:09. Faye comes in next and gets pinned quick at 6:50. Down to Blayze and Aja, I didn't know Vader had a sister in wrestling. Kong uses a spinning backhand to knock Alundra's block off and pin her at 9:40ish. Sole survivor Aja Kong. Bleh. Way too short but had some okay spots. Don't really care for it myself I give it a 2. Blayze would leave after this and burn her bridges by tossing the womens belt in the trash at WCW while Bishoff jerked off under the table in delite of taking a shot at McMahon


God, they got that damn annoying Clinton imposter sitting in the audience, were those s*** for brains trying to honestly pass him off as legit? Should of brought out Robocop while they were at it.

Match #3

Singles Match

Bam Bam Bigelow Vs Goldust



Bigelow is on his way out and has been relegated to a babyface jobber by this point. He even looses the opening punchfest to Goldust. GD controls the first 3 or 5 minutes then Bigelow fights back but misses a headbutt. Goldust doing all those homoish things that he did to screw with the opponents heads. GD tries a chinlock but gets an electric chair drop from BBB. Bigelow misses a blind charge in the corner and gets a bulldog from GD and pinned at 7:47. Meh 1 1/2 stars.

Backlund bitches at fake Clinton at ringside.

Match #4

8 Man Elimination Match:

The Dark Side: The Undertaker w Paul Bearer, Fatu, Savio Vega and Henry Godwin Vs King Mabel w Sir Mo, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Jerry The King Lawler and Isaac Yankum.

Total squashfest for the faces. Can't believe they have a group of jobbers to haul Mabels lard ass around on a throne. Undertaker has the mask from having his face smashed in by Yokozuna and Mabel, this is the blowoff to a forgetful feud. Average match to start. Everybody getting a chance in the ring and Godwin getting beat on for a moment. Mabel tries to splash Fatu in the corner but misses. Savio comes in and gets whalloped for his efforts. Mabel tags off to Yankum and the heels beat up Savio in their corner. Yankem even hits a dropkick on Savio at one point. Lawler in and he hits a piledriver but dicks around on the pin and Savio kicks out. Lawler hits another one and Savio nosells WTF and tags Taker. Lawler pisses himself and runs to the heels corner but nobody will tag in. Goodbye Lawler, Taker hits him with the tombestone and pins him at 10:56. Yankem comes in and gets a tombestone and pinned almost immediatley around the 11:27 mark. Hunter in and he bails out but Godwin chases him back in where Taker chokeslams him and pins him in 12:14. Mabel catches Taker with a belly to belly suplex but Taker sits up and Mabel says fk it and gets counted out. Why did Taker have any partners? Survivors the entire team of the Darkside. 2 stars, my lowest mark for an elimination match.


Bret and Diesel gives interviews backstage.

Jim cornette is backstage with Bulldog/Sid/Shawn and Ahmed. Pettingal says he saw Cornette with the other team earlier but says he's behind Bulldog and the others all the way. Dibiasie gets on his case saying he better not pull any BS.


Match #5

Wildcard Match

Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon, Dean Douglas, Yokozuna and Owen Hart Vs
Shawn Michaels, The British Bulldog Davyboy Smith, Psycho Sid and Ahmed Johnson

First ever wildcard match where heels and faces are mixed up and paired with guys they despise. Razor's fkd. Michaels team should be the favorites. Michaels and Owen have a mini match with Owen throwing Shawn over the top rope but he skins the cat and headscissors Owen out of the ring. Owen catches Shawn offguard and tags in Dean who vertical suplexes Shawn. Shawn turns it around and drops Dean. Shawn charges into the corner and gets a knee on the chin. Douglas misses a splash out of the corner and Shawn moonsaults off the top and pins Dean for 2. Ahmed tags in and goes hyped up strong guy on Owen and Dean. Yoko knocks him off his rythm and pummels Ahmed in the heels corner. Ahmed caught in the corner by the heels and even Razor? gets some licks in. I guess this is where everybody boos him for doing what he's supposed to right? Ahmed tags Shawn and press throws him at Dean for another close 2. Shawn goes for sweet chin music but Dean bails outside and gets into an arguement with Razor. He slaps Razor then goes back inside where Razor slaps him and Shawn rolls him up to eliminate him 6 minutes into this match. Bulldog and Owen in there next, funny moment as both guys shove eachother trying to instigate a fight. Then they make up and try shaking hands, but both sucker kick eachother, and trade moves. Shawn tags in then Owen tags Razor, oh boy. Razor struggles to get Shawn up in the razors edge but plants him and Ahmed breaks up the pinfall. Just like the heel team (the majority were heels) had trouble when Razor caused Dean to get eliminated the face team (neither is a face or heel team really I just consider Shawns team the faces for arguments sake) Sid holds Razor and wants Shawn to superkick him. Shawn obliges but Razor dodges and he ko's Sid and doesn't give a s***. Razor who is wasted pins Sid at 15:24ish. Sid is pissed and he ends up powerbombing Shawn before leaving. During the pin attempt Bulldog does a botchamania and runs in and legdrops Razor but Razor sits up and he lands on Sid's head. Commentators don't have a clue what Davyboy is doing. I know, HE'S BIZARRE!!! Razor tags Owen who tries a sharpshooter on the wiped out Michaels but he gets to the ropes. Shawn tags in Ahmed who gets the pearl river plunge on Owen and pins him at 20:50. That leaves Shawn/Bulldog/Ahmed against Razor/Yokozuna. Yokozuna in and he uses the nerve pinch of death on Shawn, Yoko is really starting to deteriorate at this point in his career. Razor and Ahmed are up next and Ahmed gets some big cheers from the crowd. He poses on the second rope setting up a razors edge perfectly. Bulldog breaks it up and he gets whipped by Razor for it. The Kid makes a rundown and distracts Razor so Bulldog can give him the running powerslam and pin him at 23:09. The finsih comes pretty quickly now as Shawn gets whooped some more by the worlds biggest samoan. Yoko misses the banzai drop and Shawn desperate tags and Ahmed gives a sloppy bodyslam (understandable) to Yokozuna then tries a pin but Bulldog? kicks Ahmed, Davyboy must be high or something. Ahmed does a big splash and squeals like a pig at the same time and pins Yoko at 26:09. Bulldog gets beat up by the two faces for interferring. Alot of people thought it was a weird concept but the match was pretty good. Im going with a 3 1/2.


Match #6

World Championship Match

Diesel Vs Bret The Hitman Hart

Diesel and Bret start by taking the top turnbuckle pads off opposing corners. Diesel beats up Bret and knocks him around outside. Diesel controls the opening minutes then Bret bites Diesel and goes for a sleeper. That doesn't work so Bret attacks the legs, Hart takes Diesel down to the mat and works over the leg. Bret with a figure four but Diesel gets to the ropes, Bret attempts the sharphooter but gets shrugged off. Bret pulls Diesel's legs around the ringpost and slams them into the post. Bret grabs a powercord and tries tying up Diesels legs. Diesel kicks Bret in the face who goes outside for a chair. Diesel tries to kick him and botchamania strikes again as he trips over the powercord and Bret just kinda stands there letting Diesel try again, Diesel knocks him down this time but Bret gets him with the chair then jabs it into Diesel's knee. I guess it's no DQ in this match, must of missed that. Bret up top and he gets crotched. Diesel slams him off the top rope. Diesel with a sidewalk slam and snakeyes. Bret bumps chest first in the corner. Both guys fight outside and as Bret tries getting back into the ring Diesel knocks him off the apron and he crashes through the cheap card table that the spanish announcer team uses to broadcast. Bret manages to get back in the ring where Diesel tries a jacknife but Bret slumps to the mat. He's really hurt. Diesel reaches down to pick him up and Bret out of nowhere, playing possum small packages Diesel to win the World title at 26:04!!! Diesel is furious and jacknifes Bret then gets some mixed boos from the crowd who are a little confused over this attitude. Diesel would start on his way to going fulltime heel here. Very good match. Im going 4 stars. 3 1/2 not counting the table bump which was a rare thing to see in WWF/WCW 95.


Overall Opinion: Pretty solid ppv. No big complaints really.


Final Score: On a scale of 1.0 to 10.0 im going with a 5.8.
