HE wasn't in the accident!

I just watched the beginning of the movie where the car crashes and when he called it in he said "I've just been involved in an accident."

He didn't hit anything! Not the dog, not the BMW, not the tree. His truck stopped on the side of the road and was undamaged.

This paved the way for the hyped up scene where he visits his mom and everyone acts like he is lucky to be alive.

I was watching this movie earlier too but was not looking at the TV when this happened so its running again now and I just watched that scene.

Actually he was in the accident because the dog ran out in front of his truck which caused him to swerve off the road. No he himself didnt get igjured or anything but still that is an accident And since the dog ran on across the road and she had to swerve causing her to run off the road she did get it worse. I think even if both had not hit anything it would still be an accident because of having to avoid hitting something plus both having to run off the road causing them to skid.

And It made sense for him to call it in for he did swerve off the road to avoid the dog as well otherwise he would have said I just witnessed an accident and he didnt just witness it he was part of it to a degree albeit a small part.

Most states define a traffic accident as the unintentional operation of a motor vehicle resulting in property damage or personal injury.

He wasn't injured, the truck wasn't damaged, didn't damage anything, nor was it a non-contact "phantom" vehicle like one that swerves into the other lane and causes the other vehicle to crash.

He actually handled the truck well, and as a result didn't damage the truck or injure himself or the dog.

I just wish the writers would put a little more research into these movies when they have an actor playing a specific occupation character like a fireman. He did a bunch of other stuff before & after the accident a real fireman wouldn't do, the most egregious of which was carrying the victim to the ambulance without her being in a C-collar and on a backboard. Makes for great TV I guess, but when I watch shows like these with my relatives that are firemen they always point out the big mistakes.
