lol "song writer Carlos Melendez", this thread has absolutely nothing to do with the songs in the movie, and thus no one gives a *beep* that you claim to be the "songwriter".

Please learn when the title is relevant. Which is pretty much....never.

And a little help comes in a little glass vial and a gun pressed against her anatomy.

Who would brag about writing those horrible songs?

The OPs original question completely misses the point.

If Molly's dad was the famous legend that the movie claims.....his guitars would have drawn a packed house at Christie's auction and would have netted millions.

This is a classic example of Hollywood screenwriters wanting it both ways in a movie. They base Molly's life and lifestyle on her dads success as a rock god, yet want to minimize the value of his guitar collection....when in reality, the sale of this collection would be enough to set Molly up for life.

After watching Uptown Girls, I am left with the nagging question---was her dad a bonafide rock god....or a one hit wonder?

A clue is given when he (Neal) knows that her dad open his show at Budokan in Tokyo!! If Neal knew this, this would have been a seminal recording and moment in rock history. Hence, his guitars would have been worth much more. This is a classic example of Hollywood dumbing down for its audience.

Cheap Trick is an example of a 70s act that would have long been forgotten---if not for it's seminal live LP from Budokan....!!! I hate when movie ppl dumb down movies for the masses. I don't mind when aspects of a movie go over my head. Actually, I love it, because I turn to imdb, google and wiki to learn something new....

Don't dumb down for my sake, Hollywood....like you did here in Uptown Girls....!

PS...clearly, if you need to ask this question, you should turn in your imdb membership card and refrain from posting on all movie websites in the future. Clearly, the producers and director gave you way too much credit as a filmgoer.....!!!!

I was so happy Neal bought the guitars. He knew Molly's father's music and appreciated it. More than likely, if they were to get married, Molly would have the guitars once again.
