What's with the Sarnia references?

Having grown up there, it always takes me aback to see reference to the place (now living in London England) and this movie had the curling team from Sarnia as well as the line "Say hello to Port Huron for us" as the baddie is hoisted on the boat. Now Port Huron is across the river from Sarnia, making that two references!! Just wondering if there was a reason for this...

Don't know the answer, but something clicked and I remembered that in dueSouth (in which Paul Gross also starred) they also made a Sarnia reference in one episode. It went something like this:

Canadian Tourist(who just gave Ray & Fraser a ride): If you're ever in Sarnia, drop by.
Fraser: Thank you kindly.
Vecchio: Thanks. … Fraser, If I'm ever in Sarnia, shoot me with a big gun.
