Right Wing Propaganda

Coming to think of it this film is actually promoting Right wing American propaganda. I have nothing against Republicans or Democrats, but to force feed this twaddle down viewers throats is just insane. It is saying that the help the world needs will come from America. That is just self praising and a very arrogant statement to make. I for one would not like to go to America because it is such a superficial society basing it's foundation on "PATRIOTISM". My goodness there is more to a nation than patriotism. Doesn't America know anything about culture and "ubuntu", uniting as one, this film just preaches that America is "A great nation under God". I'm not disputing the fact that America has done a lot of good and helped a lot of countries in need, but Yankee land sure is not "the be all and end all" for the help the world needs.

God Bless and I hope Americans can find true peace in their land.

Let me start off by stating the obvious: you are an idiot. You take up space here to criticize the U.S. and have never even been to the U.S.? Really, how stupid are you?

reply

He isn't criticizing the U.S., he's criticizing the movie.

He seems to have a selective memory...In the final battle it was not just the US, it was the US, Latin America, and China.

Excuse me... Go back and read his post. YES HE IS CRITIZING THE UNITED STATES! Can't you read????? If it still doesn't register in that thick skull of yours, go back and read it again... What a dope!!

First of all, you do not have to have visited a country to be critical of its government's policies, especially something like US foreign policy, which has an incalculable effect on countless individuals all over the globe. Anybody can bear witness to a country's actions in another and form an opinion

If I had spoken critically of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, and an Iraqi grew angry with me for speaking my mind, wouldn't it seem disengenuous for him to say, 'How dare you! Have you ever been to Iraq?'

No, I haven't. But I don't have to have visited a country to think that that country invading another to possess it's oilfields is a heinous thing to do.

Secondly, if you champion the American ideal, you must cherish freedom of thought and freedom of expression. They are first in the Bill of Rights for a reason. No free society can function without them, and every other Amendment in the Bill is there to provide a Guarantee for the First.

These ideals should apply to everyone. Not just Americans, not just people who approve of what we do.

Honest criticism is what holds our actions and ideas up to close scrutiny, and tests whether or not they are valid, sound, and beneficial. Honest criticism holds us accountable for things for which we are responsible.

Thirdly, not everything the US does is in the interests of the global common good, or even in the long-term best interests of most Americans. In fact, much of what passes for US foreign policy, while politically expedient in the short term, has come to have long-term detrimental effects.

This film breaks the First Commandment, in that it equates US foreign policy with the will of God. This is nothing less than idolatry.

This reply is brilliant. No one could have put it better.

The Chinese as our allies certainly isn't typical right wing propaganda.

It had been dead for nearly a year before you made that post.

"Force feed"?? Really? Did someone put a gun to your head and compel you to watch this movie? Just wondering.

I'm a non-believer, by the way. I just came upon this movie by accident channel surfing and curious why a movie with Michael Biehn and Michael York would be on the Jesus channel. I didn't find the script any more irrational than most of the State-cult superstition and junk economics most "liberals" believe.
