Probably the worst film I have ever seen in a theater

I was developing a MS thesis on the new wave of Christian pop culture, and saw this film because I was/am obsessed with TBN.

I bought a ticket for a different film and walked in, so they wouldn't get my money, and my jaw remained dropped for the entire length of this abomination.

This is the worst film I have ever seen in a theater. It is absolutely atrocious. The Omega Code was bad (really bad), but it looks like The Rules of the Game compared to this.

If I think of a worse film than this, seen on a public screen, I will come back here and correct myself.

it was bad, and it was cliche and pushing an agenda. But have you seen Mean Guns? Atleast this had a cool shot of fighter jets zooming around (the best part of the movie).

elaborate on what you mean by "it was cliche".

reply

you got me. the cliche thing to say about a movie like this is that it's cliche. This film is not cliche. I don't think I've seen most of the stuff on screen that this film put up. It was however, cheesey, and that's a better word for what I was thinking (the way things happen are sort of cliche for a bad movie though I guess: instant heart changes, not explaining or hinting or even giving some reasoning for big side shifts, half the film is a flashback, the good actors can't pull off a performance, barely any suspense at the end). I thought the devil in true form was a pretty scary and effective creature but if you add it to the build-up it comes through as a skinned, wet cat. That sort of stuff I guess.

why was this made???

reply

Not only "why was this made" but, why was Michael Biehn in it?
What was he thinking when he read this script? He must have been hard up for cash. This film was bad on so many levels, it must have been written by a moron.

Guess hundreds of Christ and Devil fans are waiting out there for an good apocalypse thriller. There are so few of this kind of movies...
I personally liked this movie very much, but that is because I like Devil-movies (not that I like him by myself). "End of days" with Arnold Schwarznegger was a good movie too, I think. It's funny, coz of the devil-tricks, has it needed action etc. And Udo Kier, who plays in both movies is THE man for this kind of movies... His voice is so, well, how too say it, good for this apocalypse kind of stuff. I think this movie was atleast an 8 for all those who love End of Days.

You compared the acting to Star Wars? No it isn't great, but how dare you compare this joke of a movie, special effects, script, dialogue, to Star Wars! Let me guess, you are a bible thumper...let me get you in touch with my dad in that case. But you obviously don't know a thing about movies, so save your posts to christian things, but don't post about things you know nothing about.
Thank you.

Erm... First post etc.

What is the content of the deleted messages?

Just curious...

BTW - Could there perhaps be an age cutoff for posting (in order to keep some degree of decorum, perhaps over 21?, regards...

I have two objections here. One, this was not the worst film ever, although it came very close - Rambo III was by far worst, whoever believed what he saw in the last 30 minutes has no right complaining for this kind of s**t! I mean, here at least we dealt with the supernatural, the lord of Darkness himself not a 40-ish Vietnam veteran taking on a whole regiment alone (with the "aid" of an ailing, over 50, colonel who spent the best part of a year in a medieval prison.

The second objection has to do not so with the movie as a whole but with a certain part of it. The part where the US joins the "world union". I believe that upset most of the viewers in the US. Bad Americans? That cannot be! Americans are ALWAYS good, in films. Real life has a leave of absence. It's one thing seing Americans defeated in movies (Vietnam war movies like Apocalypse now! or Platoon, or other war movies like Black Hawk Down shown defeat) and a whole different story depicting Americans as taking the part of the Evil one (at least a large part of them). How's this to be explained? Brain-washed people (more like puppets to me) who follow blindly whoever they're told to? Well, me thinks this is right. Given the average amount of time the average American spends in front of a tv set and the amount of leverage it has on his everyday life (hell, you people even elected presidents or went to war based on tv shows!!) I'd say that this explanation stands and stands firmly. You may not like it but the alternative is worst, not brain-washed but evil (I'm starting to sound like an arab extremist and I'm not so I'll end it here. Maybe the administrator shares my point and I'll see this post on screen, or maybe people will begin reading my spam e-mails before me, I don't know. I just hope Tolkien is not considered to be "extreme" or I'll surely end up dead - or even worst, captive in Gitmo ;-p)

OK, almost 7 years later but I will make this post anyway. Did you not see that the US military did NOT fall in line with the interim US government. The US military fought alongside the Chinese and Latin American ones AGAINST the anti-Christ, against evil. In other words, the US in its entirety did NOT really join the world union. Only the government did. The US military showed its allegiance to David Alexander and not the interim US government set up by Stone. Think of it this way. Only the US government joined the world union, which is very plausible seeing how shady some in the government can be. However, the US military did not.

Maybe because athiests and agnostics just love to rip on
anything having to do with Christianity!
Personally,i like the movie!Sure,MEGIDDO has it's share of
plotholes,but the movie was exciting!Michael York's character
is one of the best Anti-Christ potrayals in Christian cinema!

Funny, most people in here hate it because its a christian movie. It was entertaining, but it seems like atheists are prone to bashing everything religious.

reply

How interesting that when aitheists blast religion, they focus on Christianity the most...

Anyways, I've seen this movie like 4 times and i like it, yes it has plotholes and its bad in some areas but overall i like it. It speaks to me, because as a christian i'm not focusing on the individual characters, but whats happening and the situations.

This isn't a very high budget film but i've even read the book and I think its the best movie tbn has come out with.

Its no one's fault. We both walked away.

reply

Maybe you were focusing on the right wing, anti-new world order, America love-it-or-leave-it, by-the-numbers religious stuff and not on the bad story, hilarious dialog, silly Euro-uniforms, predictable plot, and stupid ending. I have to say, the final battle is pretty cool, just in its excessiveness, but that is it. How did some of these actors get involved with this cheeseball? Michael York's been away from England to long...

reply

Personally, I do not think this movie has much to do with christianity at all. Maybe if you happened to be living in the 16th century or something, but come on, we have come some way from that have we not ? I believe most of todays christians would consider this s**t absolutely ridiculous. And a very, very bad, abolutely disastrous movie, regardless of ones beliefs.

reply

not really. you hear more Christian bashing in America from Aitheists b/c the majority of the people here identify themselves as Christians.

go to a country like India or Lebbanon and the Aitheists will be on top of other religions.
