Forgot what a friggin fantastically weird, terrifying and well-directed horror movie this is, especially considering when it was made. Incredibly underrated. I had also forgotten who directed this. Oy vey. Unfortunately it changes a lot about the movie. It may even make it MORE terrifying to think a real undie-sniffer is behind the camera 😟
shareI just watched it for the first time in a decade or so. It really is a superb Horror film. Leagues better than recent hits like It Follows, The Witch, Hereditary, X, Get Out and so on.
I'd agree it's underrated...though I do wonder if the directors crimes play a part in that. It really sours people on the whole film and intellectual property. Salva is 'the Jeepers Creepers creator'. In other cases such as Bryan Singer and X-Men...it's a huge intellectual property without him, it's bigger than him and then Polanski's made many different films, many extremely highly regarded classics, he's not a one hit wonder in a way like Salva. Salva is intricately linked to this sole creation, which came about in the 21st century so it hasn't been embedded into popular culture as much. I think that's why it stains the film a bit more.
