Why Does Alec Baldwin Hate This Movie?

I just saw it and didn't think it was that bad--I actually gave it a 7/10. I'm guessing the ending was changed and he didn't like it. Does anyone know what specifically Baldwin didn't like?

Baldwin was the director. The movie had financial and management problems. The movie was finally picked up by a company that reworked the footage (supposedly lots of revamping), at that point they removed Baldwin's director credit, at Baldwin's request as well. It became a nightmare for everyone involved. Notice that this ancient film still hasn't been released to DVD. It was seen in about ten theaters for a couple of days. The company that was going to release the film to DVD is in financial straits. All they've had are those Starz airings on cable and on Netflix's website. It's one giant failure.

i guess 'the devil' wasn't involved in this production. he was too busy screwing up 'the day the earth stood still' and other remakes that just don't cut it... maybe the devil actually likes old movies and thinks they should not be remade.

kudos to alec baldwin!

That's because it was released on a genuine DVD in South America and just recently in Germany.

It also aired on STARZ Network.

reasons he might dislike it:

It drags.

It's predictable.

The cinematography is dark and claustrophobic.

Jennifer Hewitt is the worst actress alive and used this film to prove it to the world.

South America? La America del Sur? Sudamericano? You know what that means? ROAD TRIP!!!

The guy's just having fun. The South American DVD is titled "O Julgamento do Diabo" and in Germany it's simply Shortcut to Happiness. The German DVD is still in print and I'm not sure about the status of the South American release anymore.

The South American "O Julgamento do Diabo" should be more important for most USA buyers since its in the NTSC format and region free. You just pop it in your DVD and enjoy. The German issue is a PAL (R2) DVD which won't play in most standard DVD players in the USA or Canada.

According to his book, he was also served his divorce papers standing on the street directing the filming of this movie-- another reason he probably can't stand it. It was supposed to be a very low time in his life.

Yeah, I know-cause it sucked balls!
