Family Guy

On the episode of Family Guy that had Jennifer Love Hewitt in it, this movie was mentioned like we were supposed to have heard of it. Wtf?

reply

They were making fun of the fact that no one has heard of it. They were making fun of JLH being a star even though she really hasn't been in anything, and the stuff she has been in has been crap.

I don't think they were making fun of the fact that nobody had heard of it although that's possible. She also dropped "I Know What You Did....", which beame a well known and often spoofed pharse for years. I think it was dropped into converstion because it was supposed to have been released by that time (whether it was a hit has many had hoped or if it bombed) and at least some poeple would have heard of it. I think they were making fun of the fact that he hadn't heard of Jennifer Love Hewitt, even though at the time everyone was familar with the name (although prehaps on her projects). On the box of "Family Guy" it say that Peter dates Gwenth Paltrow. Granted, she is yet another person who is famous but not nesscarily in movies that are very memorable, but I think the joke would have been the same.

Oh.

That episode came out before the movie. She was talking about it like it was actually coming to theatres in the near future.

The whole thing wasn't making fun of JLH, she did the voice of herself, I doubt she would do anything making fun of herself. The whole was JLH telling Peter what she has done.

JLH: "Heartbreakers? I Know What You Did LAst Summer? The Devil and Daniel Webster?"
Peter: "Well maybe sometimes you have to do alot of crap before they put you in anything good."

That may not be exactly what they said, but the whole thing was pretty much showing how big of an idiot Peter was, or at least that is how I saw it.

heartbreakers is her best movie. but i love i know what you did last summer and its sequel.

reply

can't hardly wait was the best of hers. Even tho Ethan Embry pretty much ruled that one way harder.

It was actually making fun of itself and the fact that she was willing to guest star on the show. Peter's comment about "a bunch of crap" is referring to Family Guy, in their own self-deprecating fashion. I (Still) Know What You Did Last Summer was not that great of a film, but it did get quite a following and helped JLH's popularity grow following her role on Party of Five.

party of five ? isnt that a porno?
LOL LOL

Seth MacFarlane, hello? He makes fun of everything. Hewitt has never had a problem laughing at her own career. She knows how lucky she's been, and that goes back decades. The movie (initially titled The Devil and/ which became Shortcut) was a trainwreck, didn't even get released until many years afterward. The episode was hilarious.
