Is 'The Young Victoria'...

... just going to be rip-off of this?

I'm anespeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericumbobulations...

Nope. While there are some similarities the two movies are vastly different

Having seen both, they really are not vastly different. In many ways the Young Victoria might be considered a rip off, but it basically shows the first years of her reign in greater depth, and the later not at all. But both are very good.

While both are good I prefer the A&E version of the story. I think the portrayal of both Albert and Prime Minister Melbourne were more accurate in this show.

I've enjoyed both "The young Victoria" as well as "Victoria & Albert". TYV is more of a prequel to V&A, in my opinion (of course, if you look at it that way, "Mrs Brown" would be the sequel to V&A, thus the Victorian trilogy!)
I highly recommend all three of these productions.

One difference I noticed between V&A and The Young Victoria was Albert's feelings for Victoria in the beginning of their marriage. In V&A it was clear that Albert didn't really love Victoria until later in the marriage, in fact it was stated that love would come later. In The Young Victoria it seemed that there was mutual love between the two from the beginning. I have a feeling V&A was more accurate.

there's also a superb and more complete portrayal of Queen Victoria in Edward the Seventh (1975).
