You know you are a hopeless QAF fan when...

You think Gale Harold is the most beautiful man alive

Your cell/mobile alarm is Brian saying either "Good Morning Sunshine" or "Rise and Shine Sunshine"

You get giggly whenever you meet or hear someone called Justin and/or Brian

Your friends want to watch the show too just because you talk about it so damn much

You will never look at a zucchini or a cucumber the same way again...

You won't even let your best friend/soul mate/family member touch your DVDs

You can read these and other almost 50 funny observations in this link:

http://www.fanbolt.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-44238.html

Can anyone think of other "signs" that we are all hopeless QAF addicts?

That's so true, QAF fans who disagree; I mean who aren't b/j shippers or Gale Harold fans, don't seem as obsessed about the show as we are and seem to have moved on and just reminisce from time to time while we're stuck!

So yeah, I admit, I'm a HOPELESS QAF fan!

reply

ok, the whole list applies to me more or less but here are the most frequent signs (I mean things that occur EVERY DAY):

1. You think Gale Harold is the most beautiful man alive
2. You can no longer use the following words or quotes without giggling: come, straight, hard, ass, top, bottom, predicting, US open, pop, poppers, 'can't think straight', 'early bird gets the worm', geisha, 'stroke of genius' (and more could be added)
3. You start to question straight displays of affection and see them as odd
4. You proudly (and are happy to) announce that you're a hag
8. You associate every song you hear to Brian/Justin and play mini-vids in your head
12. Your friends want to watch the show too just because you talk about it so damn much
13. You start to dream about B/J or G/R almost all the time
14. You spend an endless amout of time reading B/J or other fanfic
15. You have your own QaF folder on your computer
16. You can pull a quote from QaF out of your ass like *that*
17. You now bite your lip just because Brian does it
18. Your MP3 player is full of QAF related songs (either from the show or your favourite fanvids)
20. You can't go a day without doing something QAF related (watching a clip, episode, fanvid etc)
22. You will never look at a zucchini or a cucumber the same way again
30. You blame QAF for your procrastination (and Gale)
31. You record QAF clips onto your phone so wherever you go you can watch it
32. You dream about QAF scenes (with alterations)
39. You overplay music that was featured on QaF
42. You know that just one ordinary word can trigger your memory to a particular QaF moment
43. You feel terrible after you've woken up and realize that you fell asleep to QaF
45. You watch an episode every night
46. You can recite a good number of episodes by heart, word for word [bold]
47. You need QaF to be the last thing you see before you go to bed (last night it was the bloopers, go figure, lol)

reply

Hahaha! Yeah, most of the "signs" are true to me too. I think the one that most applies to me is:

"You need QaF to be the last thing you see before you go to bed"

"QAF The book" is my nightstand book. Every night before falling asleep I take a look at the pictures, read some info, then I can sleep well.

When you eat something and say " Tastes like cum'

When you want to always watch episodes from the show, not even a few months can go by without having the urge to watch an episode.

When you think of all the characters as close friends ( and you wish they were ).

When you go to a nightclub and is disappointed it wasn't as good as Babylon.

reply

You tell yourself, let me lay off the boards for awhile but continue to read and post every day.

You finally put your QAF DVDs away because that's all your player has known the past few months but then continue to watch it on YouTube.

You not only think of cucumbers and zucchinis in a different way but what is it with green apples too.

You totally agree with what's already been posted and know that you will probably agree with what will be posted along with tons more signs we're not even completely aware of...but hopelessly devoted to...

*BTW eoliver-4, thanks for the link - lots of good info and links there and for the post, it's fun.

TinSF, thank you, that's the only way for me to stop spamming this thread, stop procrastinating and get back to work, LOL... OK, I'm gone!

reply

Hahahaha! You are so right! Green apples have a new meaning for me since I saw Brian biting one!

You're welcome, TinSF. I thought we could have some fun here.

Hahaha! That's a good one. Whenever I see a blue drinking straw, I think of Brian. He was chewing the tip of a blue drining straw in episode 110 (the Mysterious Marilyn scene) and 211 (at Woody's talking about what to give Lindsay and Melanie for their wedding). Oh, I wish I was that straw!

When.....
You try to imitate Brian's tongue in cheek and arched eyebrow mannerisms.
Your new word is carpet muncher. lol
Everybody looks fabulous.
You try to copy Justin's "what's up" and "uh?", but it just aint the same.
Instead of saying no, you quote Brian's "the fvck I am".
You find out the worst word you can call anyone male or female is *beep*
When you see Brian's natural, untrimmed bush, you tell yourself, "I definitely could work my way through that". lol
I also include that I feel what everyone else has added on this post about being a devoted fan.
Lastly, never in my wildest dreams or advanced age would I'd think I'd be so involved with a show like I am with this one. From sun up to sun down, nary a day goes by without my fix of QAF!

reply

Hahahahahah! Amethystlady, you're hilarious! I loved your "signs". By the way, I was seeing Brian's bush today, watching episode 211. Virgin forrest!
It's amazing how many new words and expressions become part of our vocabulary when we watch this show. I even use the expression "see the light" when I mean understand the truth or get real, like in: "I was going to buy that dress, but when I checked the price tag, I saw the light."

I often find myself responding to "I've been thinking" with "Always a dangerous sign" and, especially with children, "Listen to me. Are you listening?"

What QAF expressions do you all use day to day?

reply

A "water buffalo" meaning something odd and unexpected!

I find myself using the word "pathetic" a lot. Something reminded me of this today. Also, to be more descriptive and add emphasis, I find myself using the word "ridiculously" a lot lately.

This obsession I developed with QAF (and Gale) can get ridiculously pathetic, but I certainly don't mind it.

reply

I don't use English in RL but on message boards, I find myself using "I'm pathetic" a lot too

Another expression I use a lot, especially in reference to Gale and QAF "I saw the light"

(I've been a big fan and posted a lot a couple of years ago-- took a bit of a break and have come back to the wonderful QAF world)

Anyway to add to the list:

1. You develop a craving for lemon bars.

2. You are determined to get a vintage Corvette.

3. You suddenly find yourself in a Prada store and can't take your eyes off the shoes.

4. You name your new pet "Brighton" or "Kinnetik."

5. You shop ebay for any and all QAF memorabilia.

6. Your screen saver is a montage of Brian/Justin photos.

7. Your sleep playlist consists of "Forever Young"; "You Look So Fine"; "Weapon"; "Sleep" and my all time favorite "Lover's Spit" (played in the reunion episode when Brian takes Justin back in his office..<sigh>)

8. You take a trip to Africa and your i-pod with QAF music is more important than your camera.

9. You try a shot of Jim Beam and it becomes a favorite.

10. You can take a break from QAF but yet it never takes a break from you.

Those are very good ones. Just one teensy thing. It should be Britin (not Brighton) from BRIan and JusTIN

I was in a Cesare Piocotti shop a while back and looked for ages at the mens' boots wondering which ones Gale has ... I'm so pathetic ... I have thousands of QAF photos on my PC, always have one as my screensaver - and my keys are on a B/J keyring bought from eBay!

reply

Veronica, that's what I thought too, but it's actually both Brighton (which is the name of a city in the UK known as "the gay capital of Britain") and Britin (as you explained it). Someone posted that on YouTube and then I checked it out on Wikipedia. The writers were really clever with this, lol

reply

Yes, I know Brighton well. It is a lovely, elegant town as well as being the gayest place in England. It never occurred to me that gays in Pittsburgh would have heard of it though. One lives and learns.

reply

Can you really get a download for your cell phone that actually says Good morning Sunshine or Rise and Shine Sunshine? I've seen that there are now QAF Ringtones, but I hadn't researched them yet, I'm getting a new cell in a couple of months and didn't want to go through the hassle, not just yet. It'll be nice if it's true, I mean to hear actual voices.

But I watched "Say Uncle" this morning with Peter Paige, and suddenly my cravings started back up again, so now I'm freaking out cause I like, neeeed QAF.

-- I name all of my stuff like a crazy person, and since I'm not allowed to own a pet where I live, I finally bought my first car (chose a black one over green simply because of Brian's jeep) and I named THAT Kinnetic. And I tell everyone stuff like, "Calm down Sunshine, I'll be there in a few minutes... Kinnetic's stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic." Just 'cause I wanna use the names as often as possible. -___-

-- My new favorite insult is kunt.

-- I'm less reserved when it comes to discussing sexual situations, or being in them, because everyone *beep* and it's all about sex and I think I *get it* a little better, now. I just have a much more "fvkc 'em all" attitude since watching this show. And I couldn't be happier about it. <3

-- Someone else mentioned it already, but I've started doing the tongue-in-cheek expression and the raised eyebrow a LOT lately. Also the whole "Listen to me; are you listening?" and "The fvck I am." A bunch of quotes and mannerisms from the show I'm using, actually.

-- Me and my "old fashioned" father were in NYC the other night and I got reaaaaally pissed off because he's conservative on a lot of issues (and kind of an *beep* in general) and I'm a straight female but very for gay rights and all things that piss him off about liberal-type views, and he said something rude about a fabulously gay couple that was passing us, and I finally snapped at him and said "You know, they're not sucking *your* c0kc, so it's none of your business." NEVER would've dared saying anything like that to him before at risk of being killed LOL, but I held my ground much as Brian would, and he backed off and apologized after a whole lot of glaring on both our parts.

-- I basically think of Brian and all of the other QAF characters when I need a little more confidence and strength in some things, and it's totally working. It's awesome.

-- I feel a tad bit better about living in PA because of this show, oddly enough.

-- I insisted my friend drive us down a road that is way out of the regular route because it's called Liberty Rd. ....self-explanatory, no?

-- I dress in more brightly-colored clothing, and when my one friend commented on it I said, "I don't know, my flame's burning bright lately, I guess." And it made me smile so much to say haha...I might be a bit pathetic....

This was kind of long and I have a bunch more that I can't really think of, but I'll shut up since I've rambled a bit. :D

Yet another reason why QAF is good for you

reply

SedoTempestas, I love your story! I can relate to a lot of what you said. For one thing my vocabulary has certainly changed over the last two years since I discovered QAF and my mentor, as I call him, Brian Kinney. I have definitely developed a new attitude and I am very quick to say *beep* it, *beep* 'em and *beep* off to whatever situation it applies to. Mind you, I am a 50 year old woman who never used the word before. I guess it goes to show that young people are not the only ones that can be influenced. Needless to say, I have surprised my friends and what family members I have dared to say it in front of. The philosophy for which I live my life now is a paraphrase of one of Brian's profound comments....Who give's a flying *beep* what other people think. I was always one that cared so much about other people's opinion of me. Now I don't care and it's extremely liberating. Some of my friends who know of my obsession with Brian have taken to calling me BK. It's the highest compliment!

I also thought of QAF right away when I saw Russel T. Davies' name in the credits of some horrible kids show the other day (I don't know the title).

I should also note that I had never even watched the original British version!
