have any you actually seen this? It is not a super hero show. Its the story of a girl with an overactive imagination, i think its great for kids

This could well be the best signature ever

reply

I had watched this show a few times while looking over my nephew over the past year and every time, I can’t help but hate the protagonist with such a passion that I want her to meet an agonizing death, yes even if its kids show.

The reason I hate this show, is due to the main character being so delusional that she can’t decipher from fact and fiction, which really annoys the heck out of me, that she always thinks she’s right about everything, even though her information about people are mainly self imaginative. However the most vile thing about the character is that she tends to get jealous every other time when her friends or love ones does anything that is different from her, such as making other friends and not wanting to play dress up any longer. For instance if they do anything against her will, they either had their brains sucked out or being possessed by a malicious spirit, which only she (Mona) could see, wink* wink*.

To be earnest I would rather find this show appealing if they had gotten rid of the character Mona or at least change her personality to a bit less insane. She is obviously mentally sick, over bearing, delusional, self righteous and jealous of everything that defies her belief.

reply

I disagree. I liked the fact that Mona was over-immaginative, like most real kids. If that makes a child "insane", most healthy children are.
And why did the original poster say "die to death?"

reply

Heh. That's what I thought. Die...to death?

Wouldn't that be like...dying twice?

The show wouldn't be 'Mona the Vampire' if there wasn't a Mona. The whole show revolves around Mona's life and over-active imagination. Removing her from the show removes all the monsters and fantasy scenes. With out her it'd just be Lily and Charlie in their everyday lives, not battling monsters and probably not being friends with out Mona being there to join them together...

Also, when you're a ten year old child or younger, you do get 'jealous' at people acting against what you want. It's reasonable that Mona would became angered if people acted out against her, because her whole world relies on certain aspects being maintained. As someone whose imagination had a similar grip on my life at that age, I would and did use the same reasoning as she does. (Though altered slightly for the world I'd thought out.)

reply

I agree with ever_vigilance, that's my thoughts exactly.

reply

But why? I really like this show, and I like Mona as a character as well.

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

reply

Because most of the people who say they hate it are fans of all the 'classic' 1980's shows (G.I.JOE, Transformers etc.) that were very violent, male oriented half hour toy commercials.

reply

I don't know which cartoons the Mona haters actually do like. But I'm really disgusted by how someone could want whoever made this show to die. If you don't like the show, fine, but wishing death upon people because of it is just insane, much more insane than Mona ever was.

Trust me on this one: the fans of the older shows I've previously mentioned hate most recent animated shows with a passion because they aren't shows like the ones I've mentioned. They think that the 1980s beats the 1990s & the 2000s as far as animation style, story, and characters are concerned-forgetting that people of the 50s, 60s, and 70s considered cartoons of the 80s to be crap because most of them were based on toys. And they can't stand the fact that creators decided to use their own imaginations as the basis for animated shows rather than base a show on a toy, or at least the same creators/studios decided to make cartoons based on literary properties and/or motion picture properties. So they want to see recent cartoons like Mona The Vampire destroyed along with their creators.

For a look at why they think that 80s cartoons are better than cartoons of the 1990s and 2000s, check out these You Tube videos:

There's a very simple one step solution to all of this:

To those of you who didn't like "Mona-The Vampire..."

Don't watch it again.

I happened to really like this cartoon. It's good to inspire imagination in the young.

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

reply

Also, I wish that most of the idiots who wanted to see Mona The Vampire destroyed would stick to watching the same goddamned toy porn (G.I.Joe, My Little Pony, Transformers, etc) and leaving the rest of us alone rather than infect others with their misguided nostalgia.

reply

LOL!!
"Toy Porn!"

reply

But quite true, IMHO. And it was considered as such by most people back in the 1980's, something that the people who are nostalgic for 80's cartoons miss or don't realize.

reply

well I am a 90's kid and I never even liked this show back then. I was more interested in anime (Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.) and other cartoons like Jackie Chan Adventures, Teen Titans, Braceface, What's with Andy, well the list goes on

I wish the following dialogue happened.

Mona: Guys, me and George are dating.

Lily: Eww, gross.

Charlie: Mona, I don't mind you having a boyfriend but George is the last person we want you to be with.

George: What did you say, Butthead?

Charlie: Nothing, Beavis!

Lily: Boys, huh?

Mona: Yeah, boys.

George: Hey, can you gals watch what you say?

I love Philip Winchester and Scott Tracy like hell
