Plot hole

The major plot hole I found in the movie was after jack gave vic the check after the first investment deal. If jack was just a scam artist then that check must have been fake. That's why jack wouldn't take it when vic tried to give it to him for the second investment, because he knew it was fake.

Vic should've found out the check was fake after he tried to take it to a bank and deposit it. I know if I was just given a check for 2 million dollars of legal money, I would want to take it to a bank right away. He would've found out jack was a scam artist before he ever gave him anymore money.
