Mindless twaddle

I like a lot of Korean films, but this certainly wasn't one of them. I can't believe it has received more than 7 on the IMDB scale. This flick should be restricted for those UNDER 18, perhaps 16. Adult mentalities not admitted. Immature, non-stop violent slapstick. This is a cartoon, not a movie. Maybe it's funny if you happen to be of a certain age, say under the age of 12.

Thanks for the civilized comment. I agree with your assertion that some great films would be excluded if they followed my criteria. It's all subjective, this film criticism stuff.

I lived in Korea for three years in the late 1990s (I love the country and its people), and I think there have been tremendous advances made in film production. I think of writer-director Kim ki-duk, who has made, I think, 12 films now. Not all of them are winners to be sure, but he has a terrific talent for getting you almost instantly 'involved' in his movies. Alas, 'Attack the Gas Station' just left me irritated. It was seemingly non-stop violence wrapped around slapstick. Vive le difference when it comes to appreciating films. Thanks.

groggo,

Agreed.

7.1/10 is unbelievable.

I don't mind crazy comedies. The review on the movie's main page compared this flick to 'Big Trouble in Little China.' That is a terrible comparison - what an insult. The reviewer also said that the film had "a razor sharp sense of humour..." Maybe my copy was edited. Maybe my copy had a different director, actors, dialogue, and sensibilities? No, I'm pretty sure the movie is just crap.
