First time I watched this was when it aired on television in my country a couple of years back.

I was there too! Did you attend the Q&A session with the director? I asked him about the responsibility of filmmakers and kids being influenced to do bad things after seeing movies.

"overproduced musical number leading to the second-tier gangsters getting a record deal just seemed egregiously forced and foolish to me"

youll be surprised how EASY it is to get record deals here in korea :P because there are so many independent record labels, it's VERY easy. just go to any college (which are surrounded by bars, clubs, and karaoke places) and start doin your thing and chances are by second night youll have quite a few people interested in hiring you, but you need to watch out also, cause theres lots of record label scam artists here too>

I loved this movie but if you wanna see another great Korean film, check out Musa the Warrior. A serious film but it is awesome. I watched Musa with subtitles and I don't think they have a dubbed version.

In my living room here in South Korea.

I write reviews for an all English blog here and did several of the "angry youth" films from Korea.
