Robin Cook books are great, but this movie sucked

I read Cook's Chromosome 6, Invasion, and Toxin; all of which are great books, but this movie was just terrible. I have not read the book that the movie is based upon, but I hope it's not as bad as this.

I didn't think the film was that bad. The ideas were interesting even if the characters weren't. There is an actual theory that those accused of witchcraft behaved strangely because of wheat fungus (ergot). There is also a theory that those accused of witchcraft in general have been 'mentally ill'. If you take a closer look at what Massachusetts was like in those days it's difficult not to consider that the accusers were the poisoned ones and the sick ones. The poison was religion. Strikes me that there was nothing wrong with those called witches. They were just unlucky. I think the movie would have been improved by a discussion of this.
