Black Books The Movie is a MUST!!!

They should make a black books movie! Spread the word!

reply

.....no

reply

God no

.If your not drunk and half naked by this point your not paying attention

reply

I hate to be the one to tell you this but I'm afraid you are a moron.

reply

I'd rather them make some more seasons before they made a movie =]
I think it works better as a show.

reply

Indeed. But then, since it seems to be a cult hit, maybe they run out of ideas, or/and preferred to let it lie ?
It was not shown in my country (As far as I know), but after watching the DVD, I noticed most worked on equally cult "Shaun of the dead" or "Hot fuzz" !
Actually far from a movie, I wish those talented folks would get more work !

reply

Nah - spoil it you would !!

If you want a movie that badly, watch Withnail & I instead.

I was a bit sad when black books was no more, back when it was originally aired on tv, however I think now it was probably the right choice . My reason for this is when a tv series just keeps going (eg. Friends), majority of the time it may end up not be as good as it used to be , and writers will try anything to revive it and drag it out as long as possible. Basically what i mean , its knowing when to stop, otherwise plots get ridiuclous and it can result in not giving the audience enough credit.

However if there was chance that black books was to come back, (if bernard hasn't died from alcohol poisoning by now ) probably instead of a new series, i would love to see a special length episode. That would be fantastic to see

I'm not entirely sure this show would work so well without the laughter in the background (forgive me if there's an official term for this that I am unaware of), and I've not seen many movies with those in them.

In my opinion, the lack of background laughter was what ruined the new Red Dwarf episodes that were aired last year.

"Do you want it?" YES, Jareth!

david schwimmer, drew barrymore & jon stewart should play the leads. would be a riot!!

Up with this I will not put, BE GONE!

"david schwimmer, drew barrymore & jon stewart should play the leads."

What a *beep* nightmare that would be.

"What sweaty pervert ?"

reply

Drew Barrymore? No. Just no. When it comes to Black Books there can only be DM, BB and TG. No one else will do. And D Schwimmer? I'd have to drink bottles of wine before watching that travesty.

reply

Well if a Black Books movie encourages you to drink then it must be doing something right.

reply

No - Matt Damon,Ben Affleck, and Minnie Driver.

reply

For a hypothetical US version, I'd have Kelsey Grammer as Bernard, Bobcat Goldwait as Manny, and Jane Kaczmarek as Fran, obviously 15 year older versions of the original cast.

True about the Red Dwarf i found it less appealing. Both good shows in there own rights wish the laughter was gone in alot of other things :D

reply

I think it would work better if the had several reunion shows, kinda the way Ab Fab ended long ago but they recently did some shows to take the piss out some current events. Maybe 2 per year, maybe on extended length special presented around some holiday like the Dr Who Christmas specials.

reply

Agreed, it didn't have time to get crappy. Every episode is fried gold.

Movie = conclusion and no one wants a conclusion to this show, there is no beginning or end.

Damn fine point.

how about they change the name though, update it a bit, set it in a record store? Maybe "Blue Tunes," and they should replace the leads with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver...

Hows this, Grouchy Leonard Blue runs a second hand record shop with his half-wit mustachioed assistant Danny, when this zany pair team up with bitchy, neurotic neighbour Pam things are sure to be a riot of laughs!!!

reply

I assume that is a joke?

reply

Ha ha! No, who would believe that? Let's go to some other movie.

reply

Nah I wouldn't take anything to do with it. The show is finished and should remain in the past. I hate this mentality of trying to bring past events back into the present. It just wont be anywhere near as good as the series was if they made a movie or another series even this far down the line. Look at Red Dwarf for proof of how a show long since passed it's prime is kept going by idiots that don't know when to leave a good thing be.

In late 2015, I discovered this show, and all three seasons (series). I really loved it, and also had that moment where I thought it should be followed by a movie, but it really shouldn't. I just wanted it to continue. Lots of comments on this topic made me realize you just have to leave things in the past, and enjoy them as memories. Or even go back and watch the show again. There's no story that would warrant a theatrical features of this. Plus, here in the U.S., it would probably just get a straight to DVD release, like that "Alan Partridge" movie.
