What does it mean....?

My and my mother watched it for the 1st time today.....3/11/06 and it was GREAT!!! But I don't understand the ending at all. Can you all shed some light on it or atleast what you think it is. I wish there was more to see but alas there isn't or so I have read. I also read on Amazon that there was a book written about it but I searched and could find anything on the internet. Again ahy help would we welcome. I am a reading-freak and loved the movie so much that I think that the book could help bring a few things into focus.
THanks

I checked amazon. I think I know the comment you are referring to and I think that person is referring to a book called "the sight" which seems to be about vampires or something with telepathic powers (i skimmed). And unless I missed something that has nothing to do with the movie. So either me or the person on amazon is on crack. I vote for the amazon person. Seriously, go search the book section for "the sight" on amazon and read the synopsis. Tell me if you see a connection. If you dont see one, just shake your head and the lunacy of a world in which ppl lack the discrimination skills to the point that they can fit the book and movie together. Yeah ok. i'm being mean. make fun of me if i'm wrong

we love you trolls, oh yes we do.

The ending was either wool spinning or the filmmakers had a story arc in mind for the never-produced series that would have eventually shown the destruction of New York City or possibly the entire world. Was he even alive as he walked through the nuclear ash? Somehow I doubt it. Perhaps he had projected his astral being to the time and place, rather than his real body. Who knows? It was a pretty silly ending to an otherwise entrancing TV movie. The proper ending was McCarthy surrounded by his 21 ghostly friends in the church, of course. A sweet and plessant finish to a pretty darned good TV flick. Very reminiscent of a couple of quickly canceled American TV shows on the same theme, as well as movies like THE SIXTH SENSE. Note also how smilar the basic plot trappings were to fellow '80s teen icon Rob Lowe's LIVING IN PERIL.

I was really kind of spooked by the ending because of the ash and the scene of the twin towers with the one partially burned from the top. This was a year before 911. I don't know what the author really meant either but it was kind of eerie.
