How were you first made aware of this film?

Have noticed quite a lot of people complaining that this movie did not get enough publicity, so just curious to know how people were initially introduced to it. Seems to be a Cult film in that you only know about it if someone has recommended it to you or if you did your research online.

I just noticed it on some random's top 10 horror list on Amazon and thought the DVD cover looked creepy. Anyone else?

I was doing online research about Kirkbride's asylum architecture, I think, and Danvers came up. Which led to more research on Danvers, which then yielded info about the movie. I bought a copy, loved it, and then I started making all my friends watch it.

I was just browsing on-demand on the weekend for something to watch. The first time I watched the movie, my reaction was like many. Didn't quite get it, it seemed confusing and slow. However, a year or so later I saw it listed again. I remember the thing that impressed me the most was the setting--the asylum. Did some internet research on it and that really opened the door to an intense interest in Danvers State Hospital and then other 19th century Kirkbride buildings.

Of course, I watched this movie again in a whole new light. Its one of all time favorites.

A friend of mine told me about it a few years ago.

I'd love to see that because I love his music so much. All I know is that they started showing influence from Session 9 in Silent Hill 3.

As for me I was looking for a good horror film and fell in love with this movie.

I too had it recommend by rwcole, a poster from the Silent Hill board. I expressed my doubts as movies with numbers in the title usually fall short of expectations.

Agree with the above poster who said the 1st viewing was a bit slow and hard to follow. I felt the same way having seen it once (this week). Maybe I'll get more the 2nd time around.

A friend might have mentioned it a few years ago. I saw it on youtube while looking for scary movies. I am just watching it now.

I actually picked it up on my own many years ago. Hadn't heard anything about it but the cover art and description looked cool, so I rented it.

Read a review of it in Entertainment Weekly, but then could never find it in theaters. Then finally caught it on IFC in, I think, 2004. Probably my favorite horror film at the moment.

I was searching for horror films which weren't part of today's "teen horror". Basically films in the past 10 years that don't rely on cheap scares and gore. Quite glad I found it!

Just stumbled on it tonight on encore.
