Chris Rock in this film

I finally got the pleasure of seeing this film last night and I give a big hands up to kevin Smith for making such a hilarious movie and the rest of the cast. The part that gave me the most laughs though had to be Chris Rock as the angry director. The part where he's talking to Jamie kennedy about "going to film school and gettin a n**er his coffee" totally had me in stitches.
Great movie

I have never found Chris Rock to be a good actor. He seems stiff to me. Even as a crack head in New Jack City he didn't seem to flow well. My opinion of course, but he doesn't impress me as an actor-he's very funny as a comedian though (stand-up).

reply

He is a little stiff, but in this movie the improvs he thinks up completely make up for it -- same A-game as the improvs Chappelle did in Undercover Brother and Tracy Morgan did in Totally Awesome.

reply

No, you da man, and that's the problem! LOL

A genius line...thanks for reminding me :)

That scene is my favorite of the movie. That line, or the part when the crew member comes to inform him that Biggs and Van der Beek are on the set and Chris Rock makes the sniffing sound while saying "Cracka? Cracka?" Hilarious.

reply

That "cracka? ...cracka?" bit was hilarious.

reply

Yeah I remember Chris Rock being hillarious in this movie!

reply

yeah he killed it. lotsa good cameos in this film

The part where he talks abot "gettin a n**er his coffee" was hilarious.

reply

I don't know. I think he over did it on his usual 'hate whitey' theme.
Almost to the point of absurdity.

Plus, knocking the second cup of coffee out of the assistant's hands?!
Come on, Chris! THERE'S ELECTRICAL EQUIPTMENT NEAR! (THE MEDIA IS NEAR!!)

LOL.

"Any last words, punk?"
"Yeah, your wife is good in bed."
"So, you're a liar, too?"

If that the actual script Kevin Smith wrote, Chris Rock obvisouly did a lot of ad-libbing.

"You went to film school didn't you? Does your Daddy now you make a *beep* coffee?!"

May just be me, but wasn't that the point?

I thought the whole movie was hilarious, but Rock was definitely a high point. (Given it's a Jay & Silent Bob flick, no pun intended... Nah, screw it... Pun intended!)

reply

Chris Rock was awesome and so was Wes Craven's short cameo.

"This makes House Party look like House Party 2!"
"Or House Party 3..."
"Shut the *beep* up!"

I was rather enjoying the film, untill chris rock opened his mouth and started with all the racist crap.

reply

Chris Rock is hysterical in most of his movies actually... I also remember him being really funny in Lethal Weapon 4 (I think it was 4) and in Head of State. He's not a great actor, but pretty funny. :)

reply

I cant stand the guy. I would be shocked if he could speak one sentence where he didn't bring up race.

reply

Chris Rock was is own racist self in this movie. What'll happen if a white comedian makes jokes like that about black people?

reply

I reckon Chris Rock sucks as an actor! The whole ni99as with puppets thing was not funny!

reply

Yeah I hated that bit. It was too much.

reply

Seems like a lot of "Salty" crackers didn't get the joke, lol! Ah, well, guess you can't win them all.

Chaka's Production Assistant: There's no boogers in it sir.
Chaka: Then taste it. Taste the booger flavor. I know it's in there!

LOL!
