Everybody needs to watch this!

Caught this on the Documentary Channel the other day. It was so well done and really quite funny. For people who feel awkward or uncomfortable about being around folks with Down's Syndrome, this will help put them at ease. Rene is documented doing ordinary things, and early on you forget about the disability and just enjoy him. You laugh with him as he quotes Pee Wee's Big Adventure, serenades on his guitar (while the family pets scatter), and uses a chair as a sparring partner for karate practice (TORN). You feel the love he has for his family, his wonder at being a new uncle, and his pain of getting dumped by his girlfriend (love the expression on his face when she hugs him at a reunion). This could not have been documented so convincingly if not for his childhood friend, Duane. It's obvious that the director wanted to showcase his friend not as a disabled person, but as the regular guy that he is. It's an important film that everyone (the younger the better) needs to watch and change the way they feel about people with Down's Syndrome.
