Short review (spoilers)

Here, we're starting to get out of the golden era of Royal Rumbles (Heenan and Monsoon's last year commentating together, I believe). But their stuff is just as funny as it was a year ago, sometimes even funnier!

Shawn Michaels vs. Marty Jannetty was a great match with some good stuff, probably the best regular match of the night. Bret Hart vs. Razor Ramon was just about as good.

The rumble was ok, I really liked it, but they really screwed up the second half in terms of the competitors, but it passes for ok. Backlund breaks Flair's longevity record going from the #2 spot (started the Rumble, with #1 Ric Flair) and being the 2nd to last guy eliminated. Savage was the last one thrown out, by Yokozuna.

WINNER: Yokozuna

Top five in endurance again:

#2 Bob Backlund 61:11
#4 Ted Dibiase 24:54
#20 Jerry Sags 21:50
#1 Ric Flair 18:39
#19 Tatanka 17:36

The rest:

#6 Virgil -------------- 17:10
#18 I.R.S. ------------- 17:10
#17 Damien Demento 15:41
#27 Yokozuna ------ 14:54
#7 Jerry Lawler --- 14:35
#9 Tenryu ---------- 13:17
#26 Rick Martel --- 11:22
#25 Tito Santana -- 11:03
#23 Earthquake ---- 11:02

Backlund was the only real iron-man, no one else was over 25 minutes.

Solid show, I really enjoy the rumble match, and the undercard is watchable again, thanks to Heenan/Monsoon. Plus it's better than 1992's undercard.

This is my signature, nice eh?

Heh heh, me either. They sure didn't do much. I believe Max Moon was Paul Diamond, the guy who plays Kato of the Orient Express. It was supposed to be Konnan, but they changed that idea.

I can't believe Giant Gonzalez came out, he ruined the whole match! What a waste! He cant move very good, can't wrestle, had the worst outfit ever!!! He's so friggin' big I know, but still....

The match would have been alot better had GG not come down, the Undertaker should still officially be in that match!!!

The first half was great, the 2nd half (after Giant Gonzalez leaves), wasn't. But it got great near the end with just Yoko, Savage, Backlund, and Martel left.

Well outside interference in Royal Rumbles still happens occasionally, there's nothing that can be done about it. Brock Lesnar came down one year in '04 or '05, and F5'ed Goldberg, then Angle eliminated him. It's happened quite a few other times.

I believe that was Giant Gonzalez' first appearance in WWE, because Monsoon and Heenan were in awe of him, wondering who the hell he was.

Backlund I don't think had a chance. After being in there that long, with Yokozuna and Savage left, but I don't think both of them together could have eliminated Yoko. But we'll never know. If he didn't do that dumb running charge at him, he may have been able to stay in there and win, somehow.
