yeah they screwed this one up

The undercard was much better than 1992's, and the Rumble was interesting, especially the first half, but then kinda went downhill. The Giant Gonzalez thing they sure didn't need, it ruined the whole match from then on. Why couldn't they have waited & done that in a regular match, have him come down & beat him up.....

Then they could've had the Undertaker hang in there for a while, and maybe challenge Yokozuna...oh well.

Still, nothing tops 1999 as the worst RR match ever, UGH.

I agree on that note. Giant Gonzalez attacking Undertaker during the Rumble could've been planned for a house show instead. Undertaker deserved to last longer in the match than he did. I thought he would've returned to the match later on, seeing as how he was thrown over the top rope by a non-participant. IMO, he was still legal, but Taker pulls himself together, leaves the Rumble and goes in pursuit of Gonzalez after his beatdown. As for Savage and Yokozuna as the last two remaining, I think Savage's elimination could've been planned better. He connects with the Flying Elbow Drop on Yoko and then tries to pin him in a Rumble. Yoko then pushes Savage off with authority causing him to fly over the ropes and to the floor.

Yeah, but every time someone was illegally eliminated, they haven't ever returned to the match, at least I don't think so. But they say the only rule is over the top, and both feet touch the floor. They don't say anything about outside interference.

I kinda enjoy the last minutes with Savage & Yoko, like a short mini-match. Backlund charged Yokozuna like an idiot and got tossed out, but got the longevity record, I get 61:11, could be a second off, but who cares....

LOL I don't know what Savage was thinking, Flying Elbow I understand, but he must've been so out of it that he just covered him. They WERE going at it 1-on-1 for a while though.

I dunno I like the rumble overall, just dies down in the middle and picks up at the end. Overall great show too.

I always disliked this rumble.

First, inconsistant. Gonzales, isnt in the match, tosses Undertaker out, Undertaker is eliminated? Remember a few years later, Shawn Michaels eliminated Vader, Vader comes in and throws Shawn over the ropes...but because he is eliminated..doesnt count. (Shawn won that year, his 2nd rumble win). Macho Man eliminated himself in the 92 rumble, but he goes back in. A few years before that, Jake throws in a snake, Andre the Giant (I believe 89 rumble) eliminates himself. But...there we go!

Anywho I felt they missed the ball on this. I remember at this time, Mr. Perfect being insanely over. He never really had a proper title run. Perfect Vs. Bret Hart, main event or Bret Hart Vs. Yokozuna main event. I felt Perfect was about as over as he was gonna be. I really felt they missed the boat.

As for...well what to do with Yokozuna/Lex at WM, put them both in squash matches. Maybe Yokozuna Vs Earthquake and Lex Luger Vs Tito Santana. Id done something like that, both fast matches, elevating Yoko/Lex. I just felt WM9 was def one of the weakest Wrestlemanias.

Also, the entire Undertaker/Giant Gonzalez pretty much ruined the mood for the rest of this rumble.
