randy savage

randy savage eliminated himself and got back in

reply

You can't eliminate yourself. If he exited, and was untouched by someone else, he's still legal.

But what about in 1999 when Kane, after beating the s**t out of those hospital dudes, exited the the ring so he could chase the remaining guys? He eliminated himself, fare and scare. Ditto with Drew Carey in 2001. Or Mil Masqueras in 1997? Ahmed Johnson the same year? I think it was a mistake. He forgot he was out. So did the referees, which could be why he did nothing more than staying low-profile in the ring, getting betten up by idiots like I.R.S. or Martel for 20 minutes, before beeing eliminated low-profile style at the end.

Well I don't think that Kane or Ahmed Johnson had any reason getting back into their matches, or they really didn't care, because they were either chasing after someone or just got caught up in the moment that they forgot about the match. It's scripted anyway, heh heh.

As for Mil Mascaras (yeah it was 1997), he climbed to the top rope from the inside, and did a flying body press move to those other masked guys who were already eliminated and on the floor outside the ring. I guess if you attack others while you go over yourself, you're out. Ahmed and Kane never did that, but they were more concerned about the distractions. This is sort of confusing me, lol.

Drew Carey had no chance, heh heh I guess he didn't want to come back so he just said the hell with it.

Back in 1989, Andre the Giant eliminated himself after Jake the Snake brought his python in the ring, he never came back either.

Well I guess however you go out over the top (by yourself, by someone else, etc) you're out, unless your name is Randy Savage. That was the only time a wrestler went over the top rope himself where he was allowed back in. Well that and Steve Austin in '97 where the refs "didn't see him" after he was clearly and cleanly tossed by Bret Hart.

If you do a running charge at someone, dive, and go over the top, whether the other wrestler touches you or not, you're out. It's happened quite a few times (Marty Jannetty in 1990, Paul Roma, Jim Duggan in 1991, Big Boss Man in 1992, IRS in 1993, etc).

Savage SHOULD have been out in 1992, he ended up in the final four but was immediately tossed out, wouldn't have mattered anyway if he was eliminated or not. Might as well have had either IRS, Piper, or Martel in the final four with Sid, Hulk, and Flair.

This is my signature, nice eh?

If Savage had been eliminated in those first two minutes I think that would have been the worst moment of the match. The royal rumble is my favorite match and I hate it when guys are tossed out in the first 30 seconds. The longer the match the more I like it, I like getting my money's worth. Especially since this was a year after the Royal Rumble where he didn't even show up. The worst part for me in a Rumble is when nobody shows up. At least Foley took Test's spot after beating him up. No one has given a clear explanation why he didn't wrestle in the Royal Rumble, they said it was because the Warrior chased him out but it seems like a huge waste of talent not to have Savage wrestle when he was billed for the match, especially with all the fans wanting to see him. Even if the Warrior attacked him halfway down the aisle and threw him in to have someone dump him would have been better.

But after Jake was eliminated Savage spent most of the night laying around the ring getting beat on. Made him look weak, out of shape, or injured.

His 1994 Appearance was a real letdown. That match made him look like a wash up.
Which was weird because he went to WCW a year later and wrestled there for another 3 and a half years and put on some great matches.

His last two years in WWF he acted like he was out of energy by the 5 minute mark. But then he would pull out the win out of nowhere.

in the 1990 Rumble Bad News Brown (who already been eliminated) pulled Roddy Piper out. how come that was allowed?

reply

I'm not sure about Bad News and Piper. I remember it happening though. It happened in the 1991 Battle Royal at the Albert Hall too, when Undertaker pulled him out while he was still in. Perhaps its just to save certain wrestlers from looking weak by being eliminated. Or something.

I do remember Savage jumping over, and Gorilla Monsoon said something like "You have to be propelled out by someone to be eliminated, Brain". But rules always change in wrestling whenever it suits.

"I never claim to be the 'show stopper', I'm Rob Van Dam-I'm the whole *beep* show"

There are guys who are technically still in Royal Rumble matches, it's eons too late though.

Bad News was eliminated by Piper, but Bad News climbed up on the apron and pulled Piper over, I guess they eliminated each other, just not at the same time. Piper would still officially be in that match! He was just concerned with kicking Bad News Brown's a$$ and didn't care about winning the Rumble I guess.

And if you run and dive at someone, and miss them, and go out over the top, you're out too.

The 1991 Royal Rumble match would have been a helluva lot better had Savage come out. I think I said this before. I mean it was great already, but that would've made it REALLY good. I would have loved to see Savage and Hogan as the final 3, along with Earthquake. They could have double teamed him and eliminated him then go at each other.

Does anyone remember the 96 Rumble when Vader was eliminated and came back in and eliminated about five other wrestlers, but because Vader had already been eliminated the other guys were allowed back in.

reply

Yes. And Shawn Michaels was the only one of those that he threw out over the top, but Vader was already eliminated. But Shawn wasn't fighting with anyone else so he stayed focused on the rumble match.

I bet they let Savage stay in the match in '92 because of his no-show in '91.
