I love this one. Bobby Heenan's commentary during the Rumble and
Bushwhackers/Beverly Brothers matches, is hilarious.

Trying to get this topic/board going....

4th row is awesome, that must've been a real treat seeing the rumble match from there, with all the great talent in the ring, and the crowd going bonkers!

Heenan's commentary is legendary on this PPV, along with Monsoon. Great stuff. Funny stuff!

This is still my favorite Royal Rumble out of all 17. I can't wait for the 18th edition next month. I'm serious, I just cannot wait anymore, it's my favorite event ever, with Wrestlemania a very close 2nd.

I have all the entry and elimination times for every wrestler from all 17 Rumbles so far (a few may be 1 or 2 seconds off), Steve Austin has the record for total minutes in the Royal Rumble combined, with almost 2 and a half hours! HBK and British Bulldog are in the next 2 spots, each have over 2 hours combined also. Chris Benoit had a 62:21 performance last year alone!

My top five favorite Royal Rumble PPV's in order are 1992, 2001, 2004, 1991, 2003.

not only was this the greatest royal rumble of all time, it is possibly the greatest PPV of all time. yes i know the pre rumble card was average, but heenan and monsoons dream team commentating was so hillarious it makes every minute of the event pure class. and then of course ric flairs performance in the rumble match is now of ledgendary status. he cemented himself as THE greatest wrestler of all time. and his promo for his title awarding speech after the match is maybe the best in wrestling history. heres a few snippets of why you should go out and find this ppv-

piper saves flair for a beating
heenan" oh thank you piper, its not a skirt its a kilt! "
and then turns on him
"piper damn you , you no good, skirt wearing freak!"

flairs title winning speech
"with a tear in my eye, this is the greatest moment of my life! when you walk around this world, the only thing that makes you number 1 is to be wearing this belt, the only belt that matters in the wrestling world!,so to the pipers, the savages, the sids and the hogans......ya'll better pay homage to the man!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I LOVE IT.......I LOVE IT!AHHHHHHHHHH LOVE IT! WOOO-OOOOOOOOOOOOO

perfect and heenan
"we arnt the type of guys to say we told ya so.........but we......TOLD YA SO!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

GET THIS PPV!

Since there's already a topic for this board I'll just do a short review on here. This is my favorite Royal Rumble (I think I listed it first on my last post, didn't I)? This is the show where Ric Flair became the Legend of Legends.

The Orient Express start off with the New Foundation, which is Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart, Jim does a good laugh in front of the camera, thus, prompting Bobby Heenan to keep mentioning him as "nuts" through the whole match, lol. The funny commentary from Heenan and Monsoon starts right off the bat here, and never stops throughout the whole show. The good guys prevail over the bad guys.

The worst actual match of the night (well 2nd worst) was next. Roddy Piper against the Mountie for the I-C title. But the end result got the biggest reaction from the crowd, when Hot Rod got the win and was announced as the "newwwwwwwwwww" Intercontinental Champion!!

Now THIS was the worst match of the night. The Beverly Brothers vs. the Bushwhackers. But it was the best match of the night for the commentators. Heenan is at his best in this match, talking about Jameson the nerdy guy...ugh. Funny stuff, I like it. They sure made that Jameson disgusting though. The 'Whackers DO NOT win this match but who cares. The commentating sorta makes up for it.

Then the Legion of Doom against the Natural Disasters. The only thing I like about this match is LOD's entrance music. You can hear it really good before the match, and pretty good after. When they smash Quake in the head with a steel chair after the match, that is pretty brutal.

The rumble match was the best. I just wish they would have put some bigger stars in the first half of the match, oh well. You could tell it was booked to the max, all or most of the favorites were from the middle on up. Except for Dibiase, Michaels, and some guy named Ric Flair. From his buzzer, to the end when he eliminates Sid Justice, he goes just over 60 minutes (he was in the ring for 59:15).

The star power in this one was incredible. Not as many iron-man type performances as there were they previous year, but there were quite a few. Flair's run was pretty incredible too. He eliminated four guys also, but not the most (Sid Justice had five), and in only 5:55! Flair surpassed Rick Martel's 52:16 from the previous year.

Top 5 in endurance from 1992:

#3 Ric Flair 59:27
#15 Roddy Piper 34:05
#18 I.R.S. 27:01
#1 British Bulldog 23:35
#21 Randy Savage 22:26

The rest:

#17 Jim Duggan 20:46
#6 Shawn Michaels 15:47
#7 El Matador 13:56
#20 Undertaker 13:53
#8 Barbarian 12:57
#25 Rick Martel 12:39
#26 Hulk Hogan 11:29
#16 Jake Roberts 10:55

Hercules lasts 0:57 after going 37:43 the year before, and he was the only one under a minute in 1992, heh heh. But he did get an elimination! That's more than 15 total combined guys in that match. Fifteen other guys got at least one elimination.

Great show!!!

This is my signature, nice eh?

I don't understand why Ric Flair got so little time in his 3 other rumble matches after '92 and '93. Well he was well past his prime, obviously (2005-2007). But in 92-93 alone he went about 78 total minutes, it's kinda surprising to not have him up in the top 10, same thing with Bob Backlund, they're quite similar. He had a big showing, a smaller one, and 3 other short showings & put up about the same amount of time.
