who do you think would have won...

...if the rumble match hadn't been staged?

That's just about impossible to answer, but I'd have to go with one of the bigger guys, it'd be easier for them to throw the others out
or clothesline them out.

Ric Flair was hanging on by a thread at quite a few spots, it would have been incredibly easy to just throw him out and over, same thing with Rey Mysterio this year, that's even more amazing.

So I'd say guys like Sid, Hogan, The Barbarian, or the Big Boss Man could have easily won this one had it been "real."

The way Big Boss Man eliminates himself was a mistake that any veteran should know not to do in a Royal Rumble match. He charges Ric Flair at the ropes. Flair ducks as Boss Man clotheslines himself on the top rope, then he falls over and hits the apron. This was scripted, but I agree on one of the bigger guys winning the match if it was not scripted. I also loved how El Matador and HBK eliminate one another at the same time.

LOL I still think that's so dumb, doing a running charge and just jumping at them and eliminating yourself, it never works and I don't think it ever did.

It sucked when Michaels and Santana eliminated each other! I was hoping for some more ring time from them. But it was Barbarian, Hercules, Bossman, and Flair left. Would have been so much better had Santana or especially HBK been in there when Roddy Piper enters. They should've got rid of Herc, Barbarian and Bossman first, but, I guess it's too late for that.

Yeah there were a few things that could've been better (I wish Hogan would've left at the end). If Bossman stayed in, he could've mixed it up with Hacksaw, continuing their 1990 feud. I was shocked when Dibiase got eliminated right away!!! Not supposed to happen! But he did well in 1993.

andycool, you sure do know your wrestling. Dibiase also did good in '90. I believe he survived for about 45 minutes. Everytime I watch RR '92, I say to myself that Santana and Michaels should've had more time in the match. I also thought that Bulldog could've stayed in longer than he did. He did better in 1991 by entering at #14 and making it to the final four with Brian Knobbs, Earthquake, and Hulk Hogan. In this one, Bulldog was made to look weak by getting a shoulderlift by Flair and getting out that early. You can tell by the reaction of the fans that they were not expecting Bulldog's elimination there.

Thanks! I'm a wrasslin' freak I'd say, heh heh. I love stats too so the Royal Rumble is perfect. I just did the 1990 Rumble last night, Dibiase goes 44 minutes, 50 seconds exactly. My dad & his brothers were seriously into it as well. My great grandfather was on the same plane as Andre the Giant (!)

Yeah everyone did good in 1991. 20 of the 29 entrants had at least 10 minutes of ring time! Bulldog lasted long & was in the final four, & also did great in '95 too. I still don't know why Knobbs was the next to last thrown over, I wish it was Davey Boy or Martel....

HERCULES lasted even longer, 37 1/2 minutes, and in 1992, he lasted 56 seconds, the only one under a minute of the 30 guys, lol. What a difference a year makes.....

Davey Boy is actually 2nd or 3rd alltime in minutes spent in the Royal Rumble. I've been redoing all of them, using the timer on the screen, so it's very accurate. Stone Cold is 1st, Michaels is 2nd, and I think Bulldog or Kane is 3rd, and I think Benoit is even in the top 5 (RIP). The stats listed on the royal rumble pages are off a bit, that's why I'm redoing them, got about 6-7 more shows to go!

If the event was for real id def have to say either Hogan,Sid, Undertaker, Earthquake, or Bossman would win because they would be the hardest to throw over the top rope-they all are very large

The most realistic Rumble was the following year when Yokozuna won. I don't see
any one wrestler having the strength to throw him over. The only chance Yoko could lose if he drew 1-5, let him wear himself out and then a bunch of the strongest wrestlers team up to do it

I do see the logic in putting Flair,Bulldog, Micheals, and Benoit at the start of the match because they have much more endurance-and putting guys like Hogan
and Yokozuna towards the end again because of the endurance factor. It makes the rumble match more well-blanced

From the storyline aspect Flair was the only choice to win. It made perfect in every way because A. The whole angle with him being "real world's champion
B. Flair was the only big star outside the WWF to draw big bucks and C. Every
fan of both WCW & WWF wanted Flair vs Hogan for the belt at Wrestlemania- which
almost happened
