Live Aid - The Complete Concert - When?

Well, when is it going to happen? I'm glad to get some of the concert, and I can understand if The Who's performance is cut in half due to fuses blowing, BUT! why in the world isn't Led Zeppelin's performance on or many of the others? What's the deal with one song by Sabbath? Was this just to get us ready for the real release? If it has to be a 10 disc set, I don't care, just do it right. Make it complete. I want full documentaries, behind the scenes/backstage with the artists and such. It's been long enough, get with it out there! Rocker Bob :)

If it bleeds, we can kill it!

Led Zep wouldn't allow their performence to be included as frankly it's pretty poor. That was a shame, but they did donate their entire royalties from a Plant & Page DVD to make up for it.

Santana wouldn't allow their performance because Carlos Santana is one of the biggest homourless boring wankers in the history of music and still bares a grudge about being "badly treated" on the day (probably didn't get his bowl of green M&M's or had to share his dressing room with the Hooters or something). Let's be honest they are not missed.

Despite there being 3 big TV feeds on the day (ABC: USA syndicated, MTV: USA satelite/cable, BBC: much of Europe and some commonwealth countries) complete perforences of even one song by many of the acts simply didn't exist in the archieves. ABC destroyed their masters after taking Bob's warnings over rights issues way to seriously, while MTV managed to loose theirs.

The BBC despite being also being told to destroy their's archived the complete TV (mono) and radio (stereo) feeds anyway, which is where most of the footage and audio on the DVD set comes from.

However, as the BBC broadcast everthing that happened at Wembley it is still frustrating that a lot of that material is missing from the DVD set. The only things that I can understand not being included are:

01 - the first song from Sade'a set. The BBC joined it in progress after a link up to a European Live Aid type concert. Andy Peeble's 4 second funny "Oh, I don't know what's going on" link is one of this feeds many forgoten comedy momments.

02 - the first 2 Who songs. No need to go into detail.

03 - Elton John's feedback ravaged "I'm Still Standing"

Everything else from Wembley was, it seems, available and/or fixable.

To go back to the issue of complete perforences of even one song by many of the acts, it should be notied that while the BBC showed most of the USA concert after Wembley had finished (just after 10 UK time, 5 Philly time) it is not suprising they showed a UK bias while the concerts clashed.

Ive no idea why the entire set hasnt been realesed and more importantly why wasnt they released back then,i understand bobs feeling that that day was about THAT day but the entire thing was about money, making money and this wouldve have been a brilliant way to do that,im sure live aid wouldve made millions from the release of such a tape/dvd of the show.
I never really understood why he didnt do this, but either way i agree we need the entire thing realeased now, with all the backstage gossip, interviews, screw up etc.
