Today marks the 30th anniversary of Live Aid.

I clearly remember that everyone in my neighborhood - and I do mean EVERYONE - had it on. There were no watching of Saturday morning cartoons, no viewing of sports, no viewing of afternoon creature features. Just Live Aid playing on every TV in the hood. Today to celebrate it I am watching the entire DVD (which I bought on the 20th anniversary). It is still a hell of a show to behold. The one major bitch I have about the DVD (well besides the fact that whole acts were cut out) is portions of the American acts are out of the order to which they appeared (example: they put Bryan Adams as the opening Philadelphia act when Joan Biaz was one of the openers, and she came on about an hour and a half before Adams, Judas Priest played before Madonna, they chopped it where they played after her, etc) Only after the Cars on down does the correct order appear. WTF?

I'm watching the DVD right now. I also hate the fact that acts were trimmed or not included in this set. It still brings back great memories of being glued to the TV and radio that day 30 years ago!

I remember hearing the rumors that day that Zeppelin was getting back together for the show. I was terribly disappointed when they finally came on. Terrible performance by them - probably why Jimmy Page and Robert Plant refused to let it be part of the DVD set😨

As you know Phil Collins played the drums for them and he also said it was one of his worst performances.

Collins has never said that actually. He said he "knew my stuff" and rejected any accusation that he wasn't up to it.

I remember Live Aid. Can't believe it's 30 years since Adam Ant, George Thorogood and Billy Ocean ended famine forever. Truly a historic event.
