aweful

although the main actor did a fairly decent job at capturing Hendrix's persona, overall this movie was horrible. as said before, it provides no insights about Hendrix, his bands, his career, or his drug abuse/death, but merely illustrates the highlights of his career sort of like a brief encycolpedia blurb.

the only original Jimi song played in the movie was Hey Joe- all the other were either made up for the movie, or cover songs. Must have something to do with the high cost of buying the license to use a song in the movie.

oh, another thing that bothered me, the actor smiled way too much. Jimi was a friendly guy, but did not smile that much during performances- was more like contorted face when he was getting into the music. maybe that's what the actor was trying to get at?

Hey Joe isnt an original of his. The filmmakers couldn't get the rights to use any recordings of his real music, which I think makes the movie incomplete anyway. A film about Jimi without any of his music? Stupid. Yeah, this movie was awful, it made me really mad watching it, it was almost disrespectful to him.

The song "Hey Joe" is NOT an original Jimi Hendrix song. It was written by Billy Roberts in 1962.
