Guitar strumming WAY off sync

I only saw this once and it was a long time ago. So I don't remember if I liked it or not. One thing I do remember is the guitar strumming did not match the sound at all! Maybe this botheres me more because I play guitar. Did this bother anyone else? This should be listed as a goof in the movie's info on IMDb.

you might be right but I don't remember that. I was probably too busy looking at the look. (Sets, hair, make-up wardrobe) I adore Hendrix's music, but I'm not a musician so I'm sure it could just slip by.

Yeah, thats was bugged me when I watched it. They could at least gotten someone who could pretend to play, cause Wood Harris looked like that was the first time he touched a guitar...

I play guitar as well, and I agree as I posted before in another thread. It was quite criminal in their interpretation of Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix is regarded as a revolutionary guitar lead, and it looked terrible when Wood Harris had it in his hand.

its on vh1classic now and I play guitar too and its pretty clear (im watching him do wild thing) that he has no idea how to play. It makes me wanna cry I hate it so bad.

It was worse than Danny Bonaduce strumming the bass on the Partridge Family!

I never noticed this. To be honest I never even thought this movie was that bad, I thought that maybe it's because I play as well like the others in this topic.

I'll be watching it again in the near future, so maybe then I can comment. Looking foward to it.

Nothing beats Tracy Partridge playing the tambourine or the triangle!
I'm a drummer (of limited skills)... So I only really notice bad drummers in movies.
I'm not the biggest fan of Jimi... But, ya know.. Hell, I liked the movie.
If I had a problem at all with it was that it's SO got the "made for TV" cheapo look to it, and this film felt rushed. Even the acting skills are made for TV ABC Saturday Night Movie. I would have loved the "Oliver Stone Treatment.." Ya know... a 3 1/2 hour movie full of excesses... But no such luck. Black marks against the film as well for not having any "Hendrix music" either.
Yes... This film could have been much better with a little foresight, a lot more money...
But, as a film goes... I can't see any reason to get all bent outta shape and let it ruin your day. It could have been better... Sure. But I can say that about most movies.

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

I'm not a guitar player either, I play keys. Over the years I've gotten used to the idea that actors are actors, not musicians. You just gotta laugh it off.

The producers should've known, though, that every guitar player from Seattle to Saigon would be scrutinizing the playing on this movie. Sort of like Amadeus... Tom Hulce is not a piano player, but they managed to make him look convincing enough. You can bet a world of angry classical pianists would've roasted him alive if he wasn't.

Bad drums bother me the most because I feel like it's obvious to even a non-musician when the drummer misses a crash. Too many of those to list. But if you ever need your faith restored, check out the old Fred Astaire drum dance routines like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTH9VwACh7o&feature=youtu.be&t= 2m41s
