Will they ever bring the rest of the Digimon movies to the US?

Many fans, including Digimon crew/staff workers, have been waiting and wanting the rest of the Digimon movies brought to the US. Since Digimon The Movie did very well with its release ( I believe it was number 5 out of the top 7 anime movies brought to the US), it was only natural that Fox Kids would try and get us another one. Yet now that Fox Kids has lost Digimon and many other shows to Disney, I'm afraid it will never happen. Sure, if Disney runs out of ideas and of movies to make sequels of, they'll probably do something, but that's just my prediction. I've seen the original Digimon Tamers: Runaway Express and it was good, even though it was only 30 minutes long. It was a little more emotional than Digimon The Movie since Runway Express focused on Rika (Ruki)'s feelings about her father, and it had a rather tear-jerking sequence in which Rika has a fond memory about her father. Sure, Rika was supposedly singing in that scene, but they could have a English singer do the song in place of Melissa Fahn, that is if she can't sing too good.
So, anybody care to discuss their opinions?

Those who wish to make fun of Digimon in this thread, prepare to be made fun of back. Just giving you a fair warning...

The only Digimon episodes I've seen are the video tape ones and they're only in English..But it would be nice to have a dubbed/subbed release of the dvds. I've watched my Tamers tapes too many times....

I really see no point into bringing them to America, they're just going to get butchered and heavily edited just like the last three. Besides the season 4 movie was really awful, if SABAN got a hold of that, they'd just make it worse. Who knows, they'd probably get some twisted idea in combining all of the movies together and making a story that barely makes sense.

However, if they so happen to come on a decision to make them uncut or the option of being subtitled, then they could just come out with a 2 disc DVD set called "The Digimon Movie Collection" or something instead of taking them to theaters.

Disney are doing very good with the Studio Ghibli anime DVDs (Spirited Away, Princess Monoke, Naruscca ect.). Who knows maybe they will bless up with some cheap ports of the digimon movies (don't see them making too much effort on the DVDs).

Don't make no difference to me though. I already have all seven movies.

By the way in my opinion the 4th Movie is the best. Has a kewl moment where Davis and Ken save the day and Tai and Matt are just lost for words cause Omegamon just got its ass kicked.

reply

Well lets see: They've lost Pixar, they're running out of movies to make sequels of... Yep, they'll probably release the first three. Will they butcher it as badly as season 4? Most likely. Oh well. Maybe if there are incredibly good sales they'll reconsider season 5. By the way: at ign, (http://boards.ign.com/Digimon/b5633/46372236/p7) they're discussing the release of the other movies, and apparantly it is being dubbed sometime during the summer. I'm not sure how factual the claims are, but its still something to ponder.

All the movies were dubbed this year and shown in the past month. I was really impressed with the fact that the dubbing was actually pretty good. They kept with the cleverness of the original series. Tomorrow, Digimon: Island of Lost DIgimon (the season 4 movie) is gonna be on... then I'll comment on that :)

I have only seen the japanese version of Runaway Locomon (Movie 6). THIS MOVIE KICKED ASS! It was way better than the Revenge of Diaboromon and thats pretty good considering that is a totally awesome movie. I don't have Toon Disney so I haven't seen Island of Lost Digimon or Adventurers Battle or the American version of Runaway Locomon. I will have to wait until they come out on ABC Family Jetix, which is Sunday 11-6 at 8:00 if any one hasn't seen them.

I've seen the second and third on Jetix two times each. They're really sneaky about when they air them though so you have to keep an eye out on their website.

Well first off Jetix on Toon Disney already released Digimon Revenge of Diaboromon, Digimon Battle of Adventures, Digimon Runaway Locomon, and Digimon Island of Lost Digimon. So pretty much they should be out in DVD soon, I hope. All I know, even though this is out of the topic, Japan has already announced a 5th season called Digimon Digital Monsters 05 Savers. Not much information is out as of yet but little by little we are getting the information we need. All we know so far is that it is a brand new season and not a continuation to Season 3 Tamers (my favorite of all the seasons) like people suspected before. Also in Japan the new digimon movie Digimon Digital Monsters X-Evolution already aired in television there so in America we don't know if it will be released. Let's just hope both the season and movie will be aired here because there is a rumor that America won't air either of them here. All of the movies Jetix showed were all great, my favorite one of all was Runaway Locomon and Battle of Adventures in my opinion (and not because it was Season 3 wise) but because they had better adventures and action and a better storyline in my opinion, so please no one bash it's just my opinion. Digimon forever!

Haven't they already had six or seven seasons of Digimon in Japan?

They did, and showed them on JETIX

Honestly, Disney got lazy when they were dubbed. A lot of the humor in the Jap. versions was lost due to bad translation. Also, the VAs in Japan sound a bit better than the current American VAs. Watch them in Japanese with English subs and you'll see what I mean
